I believe he means "Survive and Advance, because as the underdogs, we aren't supposed to win this one, and this season sounds like it could shape up to be our Cinderella season."

I don't think he's arguing we need to win against Duke to make the tourney.

From the perspective that we weren't expected to do well pre-season. Just a few weeks ago we were off the bubble (and not in a good way), and now analyst are talking about State being the dark horse candidate in the tournament.

No, it's not the same thing as 1983, but there's a lot of potential here, where there hasn't been too much hope for potential in a while.
