There is actually someone who bought one of Cruz's potential domain names, and rather than selling it to his campaign for a high price, he is holding it hostage for a meeting with him. 3/24/2015 8:56:29 PM |

Carson became a republican because a young mother didn't want to accept help from her disapproving parents and was on public assistance, and he thought this was a "bad decision" for her to make regarding her own life, which made him become conservative so I guess he could force needy people to stay in whatever unhealthy situation got them where they are. 3/25/2015 2:28:05 PM |

Something tells me he's not a true believer in many of his positions, statements, and WTF moments and to some degree has been strategically batshit crazy to gain notoriety, knowing full well that there are enough people who *do* buy into his flavor of extremism to give him a shot. Hell whether you like him or hate him, he's a household name around the country, which isn't the case for most of his peers.
I still think he flames out well before the primary...3/25/2015 4:59:12 PM |

He's definitely a hater of communism. His father was put into prison by Castro for 30 years. That's why he said: millions of Americans came to this country with nothing but achieved everything. His father was like a refugee.
And that's basically why GOP choose him to be a nominee: to deal with China-Russia ally I think.

he's a nut-job, plain and simple, and it's mind-boggling that someone as dumb and crazy as him could become a senator, much less a presidential nominee.

Woah, slow down there. GOP didn't choose him to be nominee. Up to this point, Cruz chose Cruz to be a contender for GOP nominee. And I think I can confidently guarantee Cruz won't be the GOP nominee.3/26/2015 5:17:08 PM |

Ted Cruz was in Rock Hill yesterday. Video below if anyone is interested:

In sum - advocates for a flat tax, abolishing the IRS, repealing every word of Obamacare, defend religious liberty and the 1st Amendment, limiting the federal govt to its core functions, repeal common core.
Questions from the audience begin about the 21:50 mark.

i'm pretty much undecided on common core, so regardless of it's merits or lack thereof, it's pretty funny for a guy like Ted Cruz to force states to repeal a state education model when he and his party are ardent defenders of states rights for things like intelligent design and trying to keep religion in public schools. 4/7/2015 2:28:55 PM |

no republicans actually give a shit about small or local government, they only say that when it suits them. as soon as small or local government is contrary to their ideology on an issue, they oppose it. you don't even need to look beyond our state for this to be obvious. 4/8/2015 9:40:58 AM |

^^ they play to their audiences. Just look at Huckabee when he's on the Daily Show, he comes off as normal and sane. Or when Rubio was on TDS, he didn't say any of his nut things, he was fairly even handed.
We're probably going to hear some really, really nutty things from the republican politicians during the primaries, because the "low information" voters love that kind of thing. In the past week i've seen normal human beings, close friends, post about how we should ship all the illegal immigrants back far away from their homes on dilapidated old ships just like Eisenhower did (which never happened), and wondering out loud how we, as a country, are going to survive another 2 years under Obama, who is certainly really a kenyan secret muslim that hates America.
Probably the worst thing Obama said was about people clinging to guns and religion, and he (rightfully) had to walk this back.
Statistically, we're a country of poor, dumb people, and national elections really help demonstrate this. 4/13/2015 9:57:03 PM |
