Surely that's Eriksen's spot.

I hope to get a relatively injury-free season out of Jack and Serge Gnabry. Gnabry had some pretty good games for Arsenal when he was healthy.

Can is only 21 and I think he will be awesome next year in midfield. Ibe/Markovic have a window with Sterling gone but it's still awfully crowded for them to be anything but bench options. I'm not expecting anything from Origi in the PL next season so hopefully I'm pleasantly surprised.

Gomez is highly rated but will most likely be in the Championship for another year. I can't think of any other "young" players that have a chance at making an impact next year.

^ If pools interest in Friminio and Bacca is true and you manage to get those two I think it would be a pretty solid window for pool. Still think you would need a defensive winger and a great CB but I must begrudgingly admit pool is doing a decent job in the transfer window. Sell Sterling, replace him with Firminio and Bacca isn't a bad move.

If Firminio and Bacca can provide goals pool is in with a good shout for the top 4. I think its going to be a very tough fight next year with pool, united, and tottenham strengthening squads. If United can't get some big signings it could be a long season for us after losing De Gea.

Right. Can't wait for Firmino to end up at Chelsea.

Firmino/Bacca/Clyne would all be excellent signings so if this dumb fuck transfer committee managed to get them all AND have them paid for with a huge Sterling fee, I'd shit a brick. Firmino is an upgrade on Sterling and a deal at the rumored price so I can't imagine how LFC could land him.

Tbf I watched enough Arsenal back then. I remember that whole CL season pretty well and the way the PL season ended. Lehman was on the decline at that point..

In any case, Firmino is class from what I heard. Good signing and certainly better than any business they did last year. Gotta keep Studge healthy to realistically push top four.

** I don't see where Gnabry will get time this year. Any talks of loan? I want to see Bellerin push on so Barca are forced to spend £35m to get him back.

[Edited on June 23, 2015 at 5:43 PM. Reason : ^ I saw £29m .. Is that right?]

Yeah, my post was based on what I saw when it was 20. Even still, if Depay was 25, 29 for him isn't that much of a stretch. Like I said, they'll get that back plus more for Sterling and he's an upgrade. I'm hyped for this.

Eriksen has that spot locked down, but Alex will probably be a cup/europa option along with a late sub in bigger matches. Eriksen faded badly down the stretch last season because MP couldn't afford to rotate him. I'm hoping that AP/Lamela can take some of that pressure off this time around.

I'm hoping that Spurs can get Alderweireld in the door badly. Our back line was atrocious last season and Trippier/Wimmer are a good start, but we need proven CB's badly.

I just found this and can't stop laughing. A day in the life of a Spurs fan.

Think Yedlin will be loaned domestically? I think be is ready to get some minutes in the prem but not for a team with top four aspirations.

Wouldn't mind seeing him get a loan to Bundesliga either..

I'll be shocked if Yedlin is ever a regular for Spurs.

I agree a Bundesliga loan would be nice to see. Anywhere but Italy/Spain where he can just get by with his speed.

He's got interest from a few bottom feeder prem clubs so he'll probably stay in England. He's adamant about staying and fighting for his spot though, which is admirable, but he'll still get sent elsewhere near deadline day imo.

Walker better watch out though. If he plays to the same standard he showed last season his days in the XI are numbered. His crosses are shit and he's got no interest in actually defending. Not a great combo for a RB.

I hope Yedlin ends up Norwich instead of a Championship team. I'd like to see him and Nathan Redmond on the right side together.

29 million quid for Firmino is a lot but thats the standard in the transfer market these days. Overpay or risk losing your target to someone else. Solid signing for pool though. Strengthens a position of need. If they got a good striker and a RB I would say they did everything they could to support Rodgers this offseason, the rest is on his shoulders.

Good player in a position of need. Liverpool desperately need some stability and once again it's not happening going in to a season. If they can keep the squad together very high ceiling, though.

I'd still worry about that midfield against the more technical sides.

^ how is it not happening? I am actually fairly impressed at the signings liverpool have gotten so far. Milner, Clyne, and Firmino are in positions they needed to strengthen and they have. If Sturridge stays fit and they also get Bacca then that is a very good offseason. Signings were done early too.

I am officially worried at the lack of real news for United since Depay. Need to actually get some players in than focusing on Ramos and Bastian who will likely sign new contracts soon enough.

They are going to have four to five new players in the first team again. It's not always bad since they are upgrading but with their brutal stretch at the start the settling in period better happen quick.

Fair point. That's why I'm glad all the first team player deals are done before the window opens unlike last season - Lovren, Moreno, Manquillo, and even Balotelli all came in late July/August. The only early deals last year were Can, Lambert, Markovic and Lallana, none of which were bought with first team in mind except Lallana, who got hurt in the summer.

Now they need to clear out the losers and buy a striker and we're ready to go.

I honestly don't care about the MLS. the level of play is (obviously) way below that of any major European League.

also, the commentators tend to suck cock.

The city has promised to do something with Memorial Stadium for years. I live right down the street and there have been several remodel attempts that have started only to stop and be abandoned weeks later. Hell, the soccer team mentioned in that article was promised renovations in order to have their inaugural season at Memorial. Instead they had to scramble to piece together a number of facilities to accommodate their schedule. none of them Memorial. I wouldn't read too much into it. Memorial is way down on the list of things the city wants to spend it's money on.

also, i don't think the city has the support for a team. There are other cities right now doing way more for their USL and NASL teams like, Sacramento is in our league and averages over 25k a game. St Louis gets 10k a game, so does Louisville.

Schniederlin is a good signing if its true. Reasonable fee too at 24 million quid.

Positions still needed:
- CB (Ramos either sign an extension or come to Manchester)
- RB (Woodward has hit the snooze button here, I am surprised we weren't interested in Clyne) Darmien would be my first choice.

Potentially need a GK if De Gea leaves. Hope we keep De Gea another year and let him go for free if Madrid can't fork up 30 million plus.

Striker is an interesting situation. Rooney, RVP, and Chicha at the club. Wilson is waiting in the wings and could be poised for a breakout year. Chicha will likely leave. That is a very thin line up then. Not too many great potential targets on the market either. LVG did mention last month that he see Januzaj in this role. Maybe LVG would like to make Januzaj a player similar to what Mueller is at Bayern. Would love it if he gives that a shot to be honest.

United wage bill must be fucking insanity if the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin will be getting £120k/wo plus. But they have that money so fuck it.

Ramos next?

And stop acting as if the likes of Blackett or Wilson will be first team regulars. You guys will develop as many young players as Chelsea at this rate..

uh I am hoping Wilson, McNair, Periera, and Blackett do well enough to become first team regulars. Unlike Chelsea (or Arsenal for that matter) our academy kids actually get a shot at the first team.

Lol how much more proof do you actually need that within the top 4 United actually give our academy kids a chance? Its overwhelming really, even last year. Of course your excuse will always be injuries. A team can spend big and still give young players a chance.

How many under 21 academy players are actually first choice in the top 5? Outside of Sterling I don't recall any off the top of my head.

Wilson, Periera, Januzaj, and McNair are four players on the fringes of the first team squad. I am not saying they should be starting. They are young, they won't. However they will get plenty of first team chances at United next year with the fixture list. So I suppose its wrong to hope that these guys outshine anyone we sign and cement a starting role within the first team.

They will get chances here unlike other teams who have managers too timid to give youth a chance or a couple of teams who have no academy talent at all.
