I think we're gonna do it because

Tonight is the night

Bright lights, hype crowd

Yeah, we came to throw down

Everybody get loud

Tonight is the night

A-list, can't miss

When we burn it to the ground

Everybody get down

Tonight is the night

We stayed grindin' while our fame kept risin'

Steady climbin', now we on top

It's not something you get, it's just something we got

Cause I don't know if you know

If you know we playin' or not, tonight

Lights flashin'

When we step in the place

And you can feel the raw excitement

From the look on their face

It's like the prize right in front of my eyes to take

And the sky's the limit, got no time to waste

Tonight's the big go

Strike quick but creep slow

The competition is absent

The moment that we show

Count down from 3 go

Press X to reload

Yet they still try to topple the kingdom that we own

Outnumbered but outgunnin'

We're fearless and crowd stunnin'

Never an error on record

There's no one to protect yah

And we would still be right here

If all the money was burned

But we stay bumpin' in your ear

Cause the money was earned, yo

You can find us climbing settin' the bar

Or you could find us red carpet when we hittin' it hard

Cause the truth is you can find us wherever you are

Just look up, we're flying high with the stars cause…

Tonight is the night

I'm gonna play devil's advocate here and say if our schedule and Louisville were reversed...would you guys still say the same thing? Right?

Louisville +4. take the spread.

of course not, we're biased. we'd say "we're battle tested" or whatever. i think that's probably mostly BS though. it is true, they have faced tougher competition, and it very well could be a wake up call for us on Saturday when we realize we aren't going up against EKU again. but they still haven't exactly proven anything so far this season - same as us. and this will be their freshman QB will be making just his second start, and his first on the road.

tldr; louisville doesn't scare me. we may certainly lose, but they don't scare me.

Our key players got a lot of playing time as underclassmen so its not like all of a sudden they will be facing a level of talent they've never seen before.

South Alabama has more FBS wins than Louisville does this year.

Talked to a UL guy today.

He says their O line sucks so thats why they are playing the mobile qb instead.

Apparently their defense, especially secondary, is their strong point.

Basically he said if we shut down their offense and run the ball with lots of TOP then UL has no shot.

But I didn't know their defense was that stout.

^Yeah that's about what I've heard. Heard their running game has been iffy this year with really the main threat being the QB.

I expect Louisville will try to stack the box and force Brissett to beat them throwing it, should be interesting to see how effective our running game is against a P5 opponent.

Our running backs are elusive they can run up the middle but they have shown that they can catch from the back field for big yards. Stacking the box against us could lead to explosive plays,

That seemed to be the case vs Clemson. Although, there were times that game where DeShaun Watson just looked bad. I'm sure that was partly a product of their defense, but he wasn't on his A game either.

Any time a team has a mobile QB, I worry about getting shredded by him. So that'll be interesting.

With the rain highly likely, I doubt we'll see the outdoor scrimmage.

Just out of curiosity....have there been any discussions about possible postponement? I know they've played games before under tropical cyclone conditions, but this hurricane *could* make landfall late that evening/early Sunday.

We've played in much worse at CF than what will be here on Saturday.

I believe the field can drain 13 inches of water per hour. The fan safety will be the issue if it does turn into a major even.

Right, I'm not actually worried about game-time conditions, just moreso with what ^ said about fan safety, those having to travel back home, etc. after the game.

I was trying to get a block of tickets for my friends to go on my birthday but decided to just have people over to watch it. Between cost, coordinating tickets, rain, it being a noon game, traffic, etc. I thought it was better to sit this one out.

May still try to see us @VT and @WF though, in addition to our other home games.

You really think Thornton not playing is going to distract the team THAT much? It's not like this is the first time.

I think it all comes down to who can run the ball in this one. Interested to see if all our jet sweeps and motion plays work against guys who are just as big/fast.

We have a shitty campus that makes it really hard to walk around. Its also in Raleigh. Great place if you are a soccer mom. Awful if you are an 18 year old male. No 18 year old male in their right mind would chose to live in Raleigh so we naturally get players who make bad choices.

Torrential downpour, running game will be key. Our best running back just got kicked off the team.

I like our chances a lot less than I did this afternoon.

Thornton was good, and may have been our best running back, but it is not like the rest of our guys are bums. Dayes and Samuels have been pretty darn good.

All this means now is that we'll finally have a rusher eclipse 1,000 yards, Dayes going to get fed a lot.

Probably also means we'll rely more on Brissett to run than we have these first 4 games.

^we've never played games during a hurricane/TS. During remnants of such a storm sure, but something with sustained winds above 45 mph, no we never have.

Quote :

They don't postpone games just because there's a lot of rain and some fans might not make it. That's silly talk. So it's gonna rain a lot, big whoop. The center of this tropical system is gonna pass well off the coast of NC and won't be remotely close to Raleigh.
