I think the Mets have fantastic coaches and will help him deal with whatever he needs. This is the same staff that turned R.A. Dickey into a Cy Young winner. Speaking of which is how we got Syndergaard, was by trading Dickey. 5/23/2016 3:21:22 AM |

Mets batters in the 3rd inning today:
k, HBP, 1B, HR, 1B, 1B, 1B, SF, ground out.
9 up, 5 runs scored. Mostly from first-pitch swings. It's nice to see the team being aggressive and it paying off. 5/23/2016 9:07:22 PM |

I think Harvey will be fine. I don't think stretching him out last season irreparably harmed him but I do think it is having an effect on his start. If from nothing else, a confidence standpoint.
If he can get one ace-like performance (please tonight) he will turn it around. 5/24/2016 6:18:26 AM |

He was fine in spring training,I think it's all psychological. He just had a couple of bad losses to start the season and he let it get to him. NY is a tough place to play for any team of any sport. 5/24/2016 1:10:32 PM |

Harvey has a really weird ERA split. His first 4 innings he is rolling a sub 3 ERA, after that it jumps up to like 11, so he's clearly having some endurance issues. He's also apparently lost not only fastball velocity but his spin rate is way down on his pitches as well, so there's something physical there.
I think they may need to shut him down for a bit and treat him like he's coming back from an injury. You do have to worry about damaging his psyche and the stupid ass NY press ripping him, but you also risk ruining him if you keep running him out there to get shelled and overworking your bullpen.

^^ mechanics. He has a hitch in his motion. He cups the ball coming out of his glove. Last night he didn't in the first inning and he had 95-97 and a tight slider. It came back in the second and he was down to 92-93. He needs to throw free and easy and it corrects itself.
Probably means he is low on confidence and over thinking it out there.. 5/25/2016 9:15:28 PM |

Ok, but you don't think there's a physical reason behind that? I mean, it could be all mechanics, but don't you think it's possible or likely that his mechanics break down because he gets tired? 5/25/2016 9:24:04 PM |

7 innings, 2 hits, one walk, 6 strikeouts. Pretty damn good. ChiSox are in a bit of a slump but way to take advantage of it to get himself out of one. (Game hasn't ended yet, up 1-0 with time to blow it, but at least Harvey did his job).
It's tough scoring runs with Wright, Duda, and d'Arnaud all out of the lineup.

The last 2 years have been so unfortunate for him. Being the face of a New York franchise for so long and he might have to hang it up early because of injuries. Jeter was a Yankee for 22 years and got to take a victory lap. Wright is in year 12. 5/31/2016 1:05:44 AM |

Wright is going to be out for a while.
The subs tonight for the injured Wright (Flores), Duda (Loney), and d'Arnaud (Rivera) went a combined 5-11 with 4 runs, 5 RBI, and a home run. All from the 6-7-8 spots. 6/4/2016 12:28:37 AM |

Rumor Reyes might be coming back to NY to play 3rd base. Would mean having a true leadoff hitter again, and Granderson could bat 5th. Would be an interesting lineup if Reyes can perform. 6/24/2016 5:04:42 PM |

Conforto went from being a 3-spot hitter with contact and power to batting 7th and sometimes 8th and now is being sent back to the minors.
It does however mean getting a look at Brandon Nimmo, which should be exciting. Would love to see him break out so it doesn't hurt as much when Cespedes leaves for an ungodly amount of money next year.

Nimmo is a fourth outfielder. Conforto is taking knocks but is a legit three hitter in the future.
Reyes is a scumbag and washed up but he's league minimum and might play with some fire. I'm ok with it. 6/25/2016 7:35:34 PM |

Nimmo's first home run:
https://twitter.com/EliteSportsNY/status/749058448688644096/video/1
I'm writing this while the game is still happening so it will change, but after going 0-4 in his first game, Nimmo has hit in 5 consecutive games and is 7-20 (.350) in that span including the home run.
I'm hoping Conforto gets his groove back soon. Nimmo and Conforto are the offensive versions of the young energy and excitement brought by deGrom and Syndergaard. Plus getting a Nimm-Conforto-Cespedes line up will be monstrous.
Also, this:

^All of last summer's Mets-Cubs games were pre-Cespedes.
Jose Reyes is illegible to play beginning today. I'm very interested in seeing how this will go. He only batted .176 in his 11-game minor league stretch. If Flores can continue to produce then there's no reason to use Reyes on a frequent basis.
Mets averaging 8 runs per game over this 5 game winning streak. Praying the offense keeps it going this time. 7/5/2016 10:28:48 AM |

When it was announced Reyes was coming back to the team, Flores said he knew it would affect his playing time but he knew it would be what's best for the team.
Welp...in the last week, Flores is batting .375 with 4 home runs and 7 rbi in just 24 at-bats.
The Mets are also averaging nearly 8 runs per game during this home stand. 7/7/2016 11:45:09 PM |

9-2 last 11 games. Offense firing on all cylinders, the young backup starters doing just enough. Easiest remaining schedule among wild-card contenders. Only 1.5 games back of the Cards, 3.5 back of the Giants for the top WC.
6 games left vs Nats, who are up by 9. If there's an incredible run like last year...who knows.
I had made peace with this being a wasted season filled with injuries to just about every starter in the lineup and the rotation. But now they have my hopes up again. Damn you, Mets. Damn you. 9/1/2016 2:19:54 PM |

he's an attention whore. quit your day job and take it seriously if that's what you actually want to do. but playing baseball professionally isn't what he wants...it's attention that he wants. whatever, that's fine...but it's kinda unfair to the players who are actually trying to make it in pro baseball. and yes, the mets are at fault for enabling that as well. 9/8/2016 12:16:10 PM |

Maybe it was just to keep the Braves from signing him since they were showing high interest. Because if that had happened, he'd make it to the bigs by next June and lead the way to 10 straight World Series wins. But now that he's a Met, he'll fizzle out in single-A and have no job by June. 9/8/2016 2:52:51 PM |
