^haven't followed it too closely...but seem to recall the panthers only having maybe 2 or 3 players in it in 2015. and i just checked and we've already got 6 (including norman since he was on the team last year) and Cam and Luke haven't been announced yet, so that'd make it 8.

Brady giving up his appeal. Brissett is one injury away from being a starting NFL QB (assuming the Pats didn't run out and sign some shit veteran in that situation).
Also Von Miller got paid, but still makes chump change compared to star MLB and NBA players. NFLPA better get a significantly better deal at their next contract negotiation.

It really has nothing to do with the deal the players got in their last CBA. NFL players are paid less simply because of the number of players there are. The NFL would have to make 4x what the other leagues make in order to have similar contracts. There are 450 roster spots in the NBA There are almost 1700 roster spots in the NFL. Yes, the NFL makes more money than MLB or NBA, but the difference in the number of players getting paid is much more significant than the difference in the league revenues.
Now, if star players would hold out for fully guaranteed contracts, that would help all NFL players get paid. But there hasn't been one to try and change the system (and it doesn't look like anyone will try anytime soon, since it would probably have to be a franchise QB that would force a teams hand) That issue has nothing to do with the CBA as there is nothing saying contracts cant be fully guaranteed.7/15/2016 9:55:10 PM |

Man, Joey bosa is being a dumbass. I get it being pissed about the chargers hardlining and all but you really have no leverage with the rookie salary cap. If he goes into the redraft next year he makes less. Miss a game you make less.
Plus he's hurting hsi development when the entire goal of the rookie deal is to get a 5th year option then hit free agency.
I get standing up for principles and all but who gives a crap about the offset language and when you get the money. It's just too much money to screw around. Itso definitely not fair but it is what it is

TLDR joey bosa and his agent are dicks
Quote : | "If we’re going to tear into the Chargers for being the only team to have not signed their first-round pick, what about wondering why Ayrault is the only agent to have turned down almost $14.5 million payable to his client in the next four months.
“It’s absolutely asinine,” Spanos said. “He would have gotten more cash in this calendar year than anyone except Carson Wentz.”" |
I kind of hope he sits out all season and falls all the way to the end of the first round or later next year. He's gonna lose gobs of money.]8/24/2016 9:21:14 PM |

The chargers are being dumb too yes. The guy went #3 overall so the chances of this offset mattering are slim... who cares about precedent the new cba in a few years might change everything.
If I'm the coach or GM I'm not gonna have a job next year if we suck again anyway. Just get the guy in camp already
But bosa is gonna lose massive amounts of money if he sits an entire year. He's the #3 pick just take the damn money forget the principle... he could really slide with a year off like out of top 10 easily... he wasn't exactly a guaranteed top prospect it was weak draft 8/25/2016 3:06:14 AM |

That plus he will be another year older before he can hit free agency. Dude is a moron.
If this was the AJ Smith led Chargers, I would totally blame it all on them, but Bosa and his agent are pretty much just refusing to negotiate. 8/25/2016 8:31:29 AM |

His charity has raised over a million. Doubt he's donated much of his own salary.
If he doesn't think the country stands for him he doesn't need to. I don't care if he doesn't stand for the anthem but he better damn well put himself out there and be on the front lines to try and make it better now. As of this second he is no better than an Internet slacktivist. 8/27/2016 3:28:58 PM |

I assumed he did this just to make him harder to cut and free up cap space. He negotiated a stupid contract that allowed the 49ers out for a multitude of performance issues, and he needed to create an argument for the courts later on that his firing wasn't performance based. 8/27/2016 4:57:36 PM |

As a 9er fan, I'm way more outraged by the fact that Kaep is absolutely horrific and he's still making $14M a year. I come from a long line of military vets, and while I choose to stand for the anthem, I see people texting, buying beer, talking, etc at tons of sporting events and nobody seems to give a shit, so why should I care about a washed up QB? 8/29/2016 8:07:46 PM |
