Really? The ones that I've read have been mostly positive, where they've panned the story/plot but said the characters provide redemption. 11/15/2017 2:36:44 PM |

Plot, otherwise known as the Zac Snyder part, is shit
Characters, otherwise known as the Joss Wheddon part, are good.
This should surprise no one. 11/15/2017 2:51:39 PM |

Vanity fair had a fairly scathing review.
I think people who want to like it are finding the silver lining and people who don't want to are savaging it.

Unfortunate. Can't say I'm surprised though. I love the DC superheroes, I really do, but they clearly saw how successful the MCU was and rushed their own attempt out without fully developing the individual characters. I'm sure we'll get some reboots in about 10 years though, so maybe those will be better. 11/15/2017 5:18:31 PM |

Honestly the best thing they could do is just ape the DCAU stories and they would be fine and have a great roadmap. At the very least the characterizations would be a lot better. I mean Batman and Superman can have some friction but they both should be smart enough not to try and kill each other over some contrived bullshit.11/15/2017 10:44:18 PM |

Excitement for this movie has slowly changed to begrudging acceptance. Ive heard there are moments that are particularly good with the characters. But Snyders method of full CGI scenes vs partial in this movie doesn't hold up well. And cyborg, dear god he never looked right in any trailer. 11/16/2017 2:00:02 PM |

The character work in the film is solid (especially considering this is the first time we're seeing 3 of the main members), but the plot of this film (i.e. villain motivation, the boxes the villain is after, etc.) was god awful. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, but the full CGI environment scenes look terrible. Really, really bad CGI work. Feel like this could've used a few more months in post-production. 11/18/2017 3:10:55 PM |

Looks like this is going to struggle to pass 100 million opening weekend. This is a disaster for the DCEU considering this is a 300 million dollar ultimate team up movie and Thor just made over 120 million.
WB needs to put the brakes on JL2 and let good directors make good solo films for a while, like they did with Wonder Woman, if they want to have a chance at saving this franchise. 11/18/2017 6:08:21 PM |

It was okay. Better than Man of Steel and BvS but not as good as WW. Felt it was too rushed and had some glaring plot holes. Superman got over his "evil" phase too quickly. Either should have been more drawn out or not done at all. Villain was extremely one dimensional. His whole motivation was to make Earth like his own planet? Why Earth? Why not one of the thousands of other planets? His flying creature things can smell fear but they just completely ignored that scared Russian family for the whole movie? And the Flash was pretty scared in the first confrontation but they didn't even act like they could "smell" him. Also, Batman just let that thug go at the very beginning? He has a bag full of stolen stuff and Batman's like "Whatever..."
btw, did they ever refer to Flash or Wonder Woman by their superhero names? I think they just called them Barry and Diana the whole time. Kinda strange. 11/18/2017 11:57:22 PM |

This was horrible. Flash was maybe the only redeeming part of this movie and the scenes with him in it were far and few in between. I am disappointed Batman didn't get more screen time as well and I think they just rushed the whole thing.
The characters aren't relatable at all and the writers tried to force the humor in a lot of parts and it just came off as tacky. Wonder Woman was purely there to look nice and there was little substance.
Not going to give another DC movie a chance unless it is a solo Batman or solo Flash movie. Even then I would just wait for it to come on the app store to rent. 11/20/2017 10:50:57 AM |

I was watching Ultron the other day, and there is such a stark difference to the CGI with him (and any other robot in that movie) and Cyborg in this one.
I guess Disney has ILM and Pixar as part of their resource pool so they've got more talent? WB probably has to farm it out. 11/20/2017 11:08:21 AM |

Yes. This. Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Wonder Woman established the DC cinematic universe as being a lot more serious and dark. They did have a few small jokes here and there, but despite the flaws in the movies, they at least kept a consistent tone. Suicide Squad was all about villains and had Harley/Joker/etc. so being brighter and having more humor went with it. The jokes in Justice League felt too forced. Maybe if the other characters had their own movie (especially Flash since his character is supposed to be witty) they could have gotten away with it more.
Another thought I had btw, what was the deal with the guys at the very beginning that Wonder Woman took out? Were they just generic terrorists? When the guy armed the bomb, he said he wanted to "send the earth back to the stone age" or something like that -- if he somehow knew about Steppenwolf's coming, it wouldn't make sense as a radical plan. Steppenwolf wouldn't care if the earth were in the stone age. And didn't that one thug that WW lasso'd and interrogated say that there were more bombs around the city set to go off at the same time? Nothing else happened there? WW works/lives in Paris too, right? I know she is fast, but she is nowhere on the same level of speed as Flash and Superman, so how'd she get from Paris to London so quickly after I assume hearing about the hostage situation on the news?11/20/2017 12:34:00 PM |

^ wow I forgot about the robbers. Which just goes to show it wasn't relevant to the plot at all. I mean how did the editors and compliance people view the whole cut and say "Yup ok that was good, lets release it!" It was more like "Well shit we fucked this up and we don't have anymore money left, lets release it!" 11/20/2017 4:43:03 PM |

lol I can't stop thinking about plot holes in this movie
- What is the deal with Cyborg's arm going rogue and trying to shoot a missile at Superman? Aquaman was like the only person who seemed to even care about that or that it could happen again. I guess whoever was controlling it was just trying to piss Superman off because even if it did hit him, it wouldn't have made a scratch.
- Where was earth's military? All these flying demons are going all over the place and not a single helicopter is going to check things out? There was more of a military presence in Man of Steel when Zod showed up, you'd think the earth would double down on being able to fight these kinds of threats. Even beforehand, Batman could have told Commissioner Gordon who could have brought it to the attention of higher up government officials.
- How are they explaining Clark Kent's resurrection?
- What happened to the three boxes after Superman and Cyborg pulled them apart. Did they just disintegrate in the explosion? 11/20/2017 5:27:36 PM |

Making cyborgs? First he makes Arnold, and now this particular cyborg. Had to have been cast on purpose.

And cyborg at the end didn't look a think like Iron Man.
Mid credits scene? Check. Post credits scene? Check.
Mysterious cube found during a world war with attempted exploits for limitless energy that ultimately lures an alien being to earth? Check.
Also, I thought Aquaman's thing was water, you know, since aqua is in his name and he lives in the ocean and all. But he spent about 2% of his time actually dealing with/using water. 3/13/2018 8:25:34 PM |

So I watched all four hours and was....pleasantly surprised. Filled in a lot of "wtf" moments from Whedon's version, especially around Steppenwolf.
I also assumed Diana had been told stories of Darkseid/Steppenwolf all her life, but no, come to find out, she didn't know anything about it until she travelled to Crete and did some poking around, prompted by her mother and a big ass arrow. 3/25/2021 11:40:37 PM |

I watched it over a few sittings (more because i have no time due to kids than not wanting to sit through it), and thought it was fine. I definitely liked it more than the theatrical version, but still not a great movie. 3/26/2021 11:28:14 AM |
