i think that sentiment is mostly coming from state fans trained to be perpetually pessimistic. lamar jackson, obviously, is a golden god. the rest of their team is meh. we may very well get smoked. but i don't think it's outlandish to think this should be a fairly close game (in either direction). hell...we're ranked #24, they're ranked #17. and it's a home game for us, under the lights. just a brief glance at schedules...UL won by one possession vs Purdue. struggled with a bad UNC team till they pulled away in the 4th Q. got dominated by Clemson and blew out two scrub teams. i know we struggled with Marshall for 2 quarters and lost to a not particularly good SCar team. but their resume isn't waayyy more impressive than ours.

statistically, our offense has been pretty efficient and hasn't turned the ball over. UL's defense has been mostly unimpressive. their DL and run D especially have not been impressive. i can totally see where somebody would see some of these factors (and considering that our DL is very impressive, perhaps we can limit Jackson's explosiveness) and think we have a real shot at winning. this louisville team is good. last year's louisville team was much better.

this is a tough game...but a winnable game for sure.

Love the uniforms, apparently Doeren said it's been a big hit with the recruits, so whatever works.

Think we should have some solid recruits at the game Thursday night(at least 1 5* in '19 class, but I imagine we'll have McNeil and maybe Gwyn there), so a win could be huge in recruiting.

Plus a Red or White out would be kind of weird since we're playing a team who wears...Red and White.

Though to be fair they also did a "Black Out" for their Saturday night game with Clemson...and that didn't go very well for them.

Re: blackout, pack pride said school isn't promoting a black out. Then somebody showed ads for black State apparel, they said vendors are supporting blackout but not school. Then Nard dog said wear black, so that settles that.

Nothing directly saying FANS WEAR BLACK which is what it takes to communicate with 55,000 people. Not "black howl" uniform tweets and word of mouth. How are the olds, who make up a good number of our donors and LTR holders, going to find out if it isn't in the paper?

False. They're pushing for a black out, but I feel like they've dropped the ball and are just trying to encourage late. I saw some athletes saying to wear black and Doeren re-tweeting it.

If you're going to the game, definitely wear black.

Problem is we'll have like 35-40% of fans wearing black and then over half the stadium will be wearing red and white and it'll look like Louisville fans bought up our tickets.

apparently the last time we played a ranked opponent while being ranked ourselves at carter finley was in 2000.

last time we won one of those was 1992. Louisville hasn't beaten a ranked team on the road in that time, so there's that.
