There have been a lot of occasions this year where Harris would have been a better option than BB. BB's defense is so atrocious, every decently coached team knows to go directly at him. At least Harris could have contributed some defense.

I think you are downplaying his complete inability to do anything that involves dribbling on the offensive end. At least on defense Beverly can foul. And it's possible to make up for one guy who is shitty at defense. It's not possible to make up for a point guard who can't be a point guard.

Eh, I think you are overplaying how bad Harris was.

It definitely would have been possible to use him this year. Let him play off ball basically like beverly does now. He is a lockdown defender and he can shoot ok. More importantly, he is another body that even if he never touches the ball can provide fouls and defense.

And you are right that you can hide one bad defender. Problem is, we can't hide Beverly when Andree or Dixon are on the floor. Because then you have 2 bad defenders.

We could have used Harris last year if he wasn't so godawful. But he was so he played the least minutes on the team. The exact same scenario would have played out this year. The guy clearly wants starter minutes, which is why he transferred to a low-major.

not even sure how he got a 4* ranking. I was watching some of Harris' youtube highlight videos and they weren't even that impressive looking. a bunch of no-look passes mostly, or some layups against inferior talent

This is the last I’ll say because I’m not gonna hang my hat on Blake fuckin Harris. The same coach that gave Blake no minutes last year is the one who played Beverly the most minutes on the entire team. More than dorn and more than Johnson. Sounds like the guy had a hardon for Beverly and so possibly his decision making on minutes last year wasn’t stellar?

^^i think a big part of the reason Beverly played so much last year was the issues with Markell and the time he missed. That led to a bunch of 35+ minute games for Beverly. I mean he's averaging over 3 minutes less this season.

I think at this point every other team has scouted Beverly enough to know how to just absolutely abuse him on defense, no matter how we try and hide him.

I was at the game so not sure if the broadcast mentioned his back issues ie standing not sitting on the bench for several games ..but the second half in particular was hard to watch. He hit the floor a few times and literally couldn’t get up for a couple of seconds. Finally he struggled up and ran down the court shaking his head. Poor guy.

They’re not that similar. Javi had 2 seasons where he shot below 30% on 3. He also turned it over much more than BB.

Yeah, the BB/Javi comparison is pretty dumb IMO. It's pretty well documented here that I have been on the BB-needs-to-play-a-lot-less corner since his freshman year, but Javi was a turnover machine and not a great 3 pt shooter.
