i missed the first basket of the game but the 2nd basket of the game was vt's robinson dribbling the ball all the way up the floor and driving straight to the basket for a layup without turning. (just happened again as I typed)

They're outplaying us athletically. Just running by and hitting layups and dunks. Obviously not having any bigs in the game who can afford to play normally without fear of fouling isn't helping either.

well the bigs are systemically out of position in help and the guards are getting blown by every single time.

If the bigs aren't able to correctly position themselves in help, then the refs will call fouls before the contact even. thats just how it works. don't blame the refs for bad defense. You just can't pressure if you don't know how to help.

There was a play where Freeman went to block a layup and didn't even block it but decided to softly touch it and fouled while letting the guy score. Thats something our players always did with gottfried. foul soft.

Also Markell had a turnover and olayed the guy going right by him near halfcourt. That has to be a reach in foul that markell gives of himself to stop the play instead of allowing the 3 on 1 break to continue. Selfish play.

Yeah we need to be making them shoot. Problem is, we're putting so much pressure, that they are forced to drive right into our shitty help defense. We're preventing them from playing to their weakness.

the cool thing about playing such bad defense is that its easy to fix and turn the game around real quick. VT will be in for a rude awakening if they have to actually work for points in the last 10 minutes. The adjustment has been to park yurt under the basket and was possible because the stretch big blackshear has fouled out
