As he should. No one (Dundon / Karmanos) has really been happy with the arena deal. I think they were expecting more development to be around the arena which never happened and there has been tons of discussion around moving the team downtown for years. I don't know if that is a good idea or not.

In other news, big win last night. 4 out of 5 road wins in the last 5 games.

yeah because the university owns so much of the surrounding land for football parking, there isn't a ton of opportunity for that area to grow and become more appealing for a destination - aside from going to a game.

It's not. There's no need to replace a 20 year old building, regardless of where the replacement would go. I'd love to see the Canes/Dundon try and convince the public/Raleigh to pony up public money for it though, because their arguments and reasoning for it would be highly comical. The PNC Arena is fine, and outside of minor cosmetic changes in the next 5-10 years, there's no need to replace it.

Either the Canes and State come to a better agreement on scheduling/dates, or the Canes bail in 2024. A new arena deal is a non-starter for a terrible team in a questionable hockey market at best.

The guy signed a huge contract and then showed up extremely out of shape. Don't blame that on anxiety/alcohol problems. He brought that bad season on himself by not coming in prepared. It clearly affected him mentally, which sucks, but it sure seems like he signed that contract and felt like he had "made it" and didn't need to continue to put in the work.

I empathize with his struggles with anxiety, but he's gotta own that bad season.

I used to get legit pissed at the legions of Boston/Pittsburgh/Buffalo fans that swarm the building at every opportunity, but I eventually stopped giving a fuck and just tried to ignore them. That doesn't work for all of them, but it's useful for a sizable chunk.

The jackasses in the group get some kind of inflated sense of importance because of how many other team jerseys and gear they see around, and take it as carte blanche to "run the joint". There's fucking a thousand of us here, so I get to act like a complete asshole because somebody else in the fanbase will bail me out right?

Maddest I've gotten recently wasn't even in the arena, but at Backyard Bistro across the street. I made the mistake of going in there 4-5 hours before the first "Whalers" game to watch NFL that Sunday, and the Boston street-toughs completely overran the place. After listening to multiple people demand the bar turn every TV to the Patriots game, and having a minimum of ten people climb over top of me sitting and eating at the bar to get another beer, I bailed before I broke a bottle over someone's head.

It took me a solid hour to calm down, I wanted to fucking kill something haha. I had to legitimately push people out of the way to leave because another wave was completely blocking the entrance/exit. This was around 1pm, 4 hours before the game started.

I can only imagine the hellscape that place must have been the next four hours.

There was an extremely drunk Pittsburgh couple behind me at the last game that almost drove me to that level of insanity. Not only were they totally obnoxious trailer shitshow for most of the game but apparently at some point, she and her husband/boyfriend/brobag went to get drinks and he came back without her. Apparently, she got lost and when she got back, she proceeded to scream "You fucking left me up there. I got fucking lost in this hell hole" for 15 straight minutes. His buddy leaned over to him after he couldn't take anymore and said, "You gotta take her out."
