Goaltending should probably be reviewable, but smacking the backboard to shake the goal before the ball hits the rim should also be against the rules and apparently it's not.

It is no secret amongst us foot and ankle surgeons that most Nike shoes are shit. I have one pair that somehow were actually good for me and got a second pair because I knew that in a year or two they’d change the design and introduce a new shoe that was not as good. I generally stay away from Nikes though. Mostly use ASICS or New Balance. Tried some Altra shoes. Comfortable, but funky looking since the toe box is actually in the shape of the end of your foot instead of pointy. Been recommending Hoka One One running shoes for my patients that come in with insertional Achilles tendinitis. Been able to keep some people out of the OR as a result which is a good thing as Achilles surgery has a long recovery. Also don’t get Under Armour shoes either. The joke early on was that they were an apparel company trying to make shoes. When I was studying at Temple University the year that they switched to Under Armour all of the women’s basketball team were complaining, and they had a bunch to torn ACLs that year. There are a few things you can go cheap on. Shirts, pants, etc. but shoes shouldn’t be one of them.

maybe, maybe not. they lost to Cuse with Jones and Reddish out. but they also beat UVA without Jones, right? Zion is obviously awesome and an irreplaceable player. but Duke didn't have a great shooting night. without Zion, UNC was gonna win the rebounding battle, which is when UNC can thrive. and UNC's already a really good team on their own. so i think it's kinda premature to say Duke is/was just Zion. they hadn't practiced without him. they weren't prepared to play without him. they do have a short bench, so losing any starting is gonna be impactful. but i wouldn't use this one game as proof that they're all Zion. they have 2 other top 10 (or better) picks on the team.

And to say "Duke is only Zion" is a huge discredit to the team, but Zion was ESSENTIAL to the Duke gameplan.

UNC scored 60+ points in the paint.
UNC out-rebounded Duke.
Luke Maye scored 30+ points and Zion would have been tasked with defending him.
Zion leads the team in rebounds and steals.
Zion is 2nd on the team in scoring and blocks.

I'm not saying Duke blows out UNC with a healthy Zion, but I think Duke beats UNC with a healthy Zion. UNC shot 10% from 3 and no way UNC goes for 60+ inside with Zion in the game.

I mean at this point we don't know the extent of the injury. If he's going to be out a like a month, it's probably in his best interest to go ahead and just shut it down and make sure he's completely healthy. If it really is a "mild knee sprain" and he can come back in a week then do it.

Outside of a random paralyzing injury, what normal basketball-related injury could cause him to not be a top 3 pick?

Outside of re-tearing the ACL on the same leg he tore before, is there anything? That kid seems almost locked into the first overall pick with his upside/profitability.

Feels silly to forego playing on the biggest stage because you don't want to get hurt when you could just as easily tear your ACL in practice or in pre-draft workouts. As long as this "minor knee sprain" isn't actually a partially torn ligament that he could further do damage to, I think he'll be back for the NCAA tournament.
