There is a difference between a vaccine mandate to work and a mandate to live, but maybe youre advocating for the latter. I certainly agree that the vaccine should be offered and encouraged, although id guess the people may be fairly skeptical of medicine offered by their jailers

Pretty sure I didn't claim any of the things that article thinks conservatives are claiming. I never said they were being shipped all over the country, and I'm not blaming the delta surge on them. I simply shared an article that stated 1500 covid positive immigrants were being brought into a Texas county. Personally? I don't feel like the immigrants are exacerbating the spread.

My only comment was, if the delta variant is so bad, so transmissive, per all of the experts/government officials/politicians, etc, why make it worse? Are the Australians letting covid positive people into their borders? Japan isn't letting people out of the Olympic village. We won't even talk about the Chinese lockdown. South Korea?

Testing as they come in - Ok so they're testing, but what are they doing with the results. I read about a 2 day quarantine. As far as I know, at least within the school and most workplaces, the standard quarantine is still 2 weeks.

Vaccine mandate - the option is simple regarding immigrants. If they want to be allowed in per standard CBP/ICE requirements, get vaccinated. If not, escort them back across the border.

And your last question I kinda touched on. I don't know of any federal mandate to quarantine, but like I said, schools, most workplaces...2 weeks.

That's for going to a job/work place. The government hasn't made quarantine a law as far as I know, for govt mandate a 2 day quarantine is more stringent than most residents.

"escorts them back across the border" risks a deeper immigration discussion, but it seems strange to mandate vaccinations for some residents and not others. I think there are plans to require vaccines for travelers, but it's more complex with undocumented. I wouldn't fight too hard against a vaccine mandate if implemented safely. I don't think it will do much without a corresponding bump in citizen vaccination

^^let me answer my own question. These immigrants were almost definitely released from some detention center, I severely doubt they were picked up at the border and immediately released, but maybe someone has data that proves me wrong. Once they're in a center the chances they were infected by workers at that center are just as good as chance that one of them was infected and spread it. And I've seen the conditions, once one person has it, most will be exposed soon after.

I think the final conclusion, on my end, is there is no easy solution you mentioned.

Plopping them back Mexico is cruel to the people themselves and really a bit of American blindness, you are just weighing America lives more than Mexican

Leaving them locked just ensures the virus will flourish in the lockup and employees will likely carry it into the community.

Letting them go is kindest to the people and this method of likely is more robust in terms of tracking infected people. Also the entire community is aware of the issue and can take steps to avoid and control using a medical and data tracking system that may be much more robust then the town across the border.
