considering ESPN/ABC owned the rights to both games, of course it makes sense for them to promote an overtime game in a conference they just spent billions of dollars on

the ACCN deal is set. the ACC is a less attractive football brand than the SEC and Big 10. it’s that simple.

I am sick of having the Tim Hasselbeck as analysts for all our games.

When we downed punt at 1 at first he was all like that was a great play and the right call. Then cameras showed Clawson upset with the call and he completely changed his opinion. Saying Refs may have got it wrong and should have looked at it.

Anyways a better game for us and MJ looks to be settling in and I love seeing Wake fans moan about refs after the last couple of seasons.

I was at the game (the whole time plus an hour stuck in parking traffic) but also watched some of the replay. Which plays are Wake upset with? The punt downed at the 1? The ticky tack PI call? I think Wake benefitted from a ticky tack PI call just before their first TD when their receiver just came up and hugged our DB and then fell down.

^^ yeah the downed punt, DPI calls, and a DPI flag on State that was picked up and went uncalled (which I thought it wasnt DPI but I’m biased). I’ve also seen them saying we were offsides several times but none were called. Which I guess is their excuse for all their false starts…our blitzes seemed to bait them into several false starts. Also mad that a catch Carter made near the goal line that he juggled wasn’t reviewed. High sodium level from Deacs fans for sure. Fuck em

Yeah that went unpenalized and then like 2 or 3 plays later a Wake player (I think the same one that kicked Morris) did get a personal foul called on him. And the announcers are like “wow this is so uncharacteristic of a Clawson Wake team”…just cracked me up that Wake always has a reputation of being so disciplined and well coached and announcers get off on that shit but when the start to implode the announcers (and their fans too, apparently) just can’t wrap their heads around it.

^^^The good PR Wake teams get is really odd. I remember when Erik Williams was on their basketball team every fucking game they would show his mom and talk about her glory days of playing basketball, she was their very own Al Bundy.

Yeah they get the “lovable upstart/isn’t it cute how good Wake is” treatment from media. They’re a small, private school. Not a lotta football tradition. Running an unconventional offense that puts up lots of points. Not bringing in lots of high end recruits. I guess I get it. But Clawson, for all the love he gets (and he’s a good coach clearly) is 57-51 (28-40) at Wake. One season with an ACC record of >.500….And obviously that season resulted in an Atlantic title, which is great! But the Wake love gets old. And their fans definitely have a chip on the shoulder because locally UNC and State (in football at least) dominate the conversation.

I was about to say is there a team that DOES have a reputation of personal fouls, but bw Wilson and Ingle maybe it's us. Also some Clemson fans were real salty that Doeren mentioned knocking their RB out of the game as a positive years back.

Yeah we can definitely be baited into personal fouls. Miami teams of the past have had the undisciplined reputation but idk how much of that has been based in reality and how much is just carried over reputation from their bad boy U days. Feels like that reputation is applied to teams that tend to recruit well but then underachieve in W/L record. Blame it on poor discipline!
