ROTS is clearly a beneficiary of lowered expectations. Once the reality distortion field clears, the movie will settle into the ranks of all the other B-level movies with subpar writing, acting, and directing. Resolution, filling in holes of a popular mythos, and good fight scenes are worth, at most, 2.5 stars out of 4.

[Edited on May 19, 2005 at 8:05 PM. Reason : That's not to say that a 2.5 star movie can't be entertaining, it just isn't the best out there.]

Now, if you wanna know who I really hate...it's these fucking FAGS who justify him botching the original trilogy. Most of them are computer-related degrees.

Look, we don't need your trite shit. Find something better to do with your time.

Watched Episode 4 last night. A lot of things worked out well between the two, but lots of lines didn't make as much sense. Mainly Obi-Wan's lines. Still felt great to watch the original.

i watched 4 again and i just can't see that whiny punk as vader

and i was kinda bored at some parts, but then again 4 didn't really do anything for me when i saw it for the first time (when it was re-released)

but last night watching 3 i was so excited

i think some of the obi-wan stuff made sense in episode 4, it's just that it was very general

he never says he doesn't remember the droids, he just said he never owned one and there a probably a million r2 units in the galaxy

the action was much better in 3 than in any of the originals and i think that'll mess up some of how people view the originals

i think over time and repeated viewings it will all take care of itself

Which of Obi-Wan's lines don't make sense?

I think the one that might not make sense now is the whole "Your father wanted you to have this", but it might be wrapped up in the "little white lie" he tells Luke.

Just stupid little technical things. Like how he hasn't gone by "Obi-Wan" since before Luke was born.

I mean, nothing big, just little things that aren't quite right.

Yeah, but the way he says it "Oh, before you were born", leads me to think he's digging back into his memory...almost 20 years have elapsed since then so he may not remember everything perfectly.

Frosh....prolly right, but having read some of the actual reviews and avoiding the forums, most who take the time to individually review a movie are pretty smart and relevant. Most is a keyword I suppose..

You at least get the idea that they watch a good deal of movies and the idea of a popular opinion sans shitty ass film critics is present.

I just can't fathom how anyone can loathe the movie so much, or rather -- how fucking evangelical some people can get about being so damn anti star-wars nowadays. I think thats the main point I'm making, especially when this is clearly an emotionally present and intense star wars vol.

I don't understand how you think I'm trolling when all I'm doing is stating how adamantly opposed to this movie I am. THEN I get berrated with sarcasm opposed to how I feel about others liking the fucking thing. THEN some idiot proclaims I don't like Star Wars, when I sat right there last night and watched the shit.

If I ever get anything written about these three monstrosities Jewcas put out over the last six years it'll be in the goddamned New York Times. I honestly wish his fat ass would just fucking die. He ruined his own reputation, he IS indeed a closet homosexual, yet he has MILLIONS of you people (and I'm sure I'M included in that) analyzing his total nonsense. It's not like you give a shit what the lady at Fountain Dining Hall is fucking planning to do after the bitch hands you your food - you don't sit there and think, "what's next with this bitch." But you still keep coming back to the same miserable assed place. Most of you nerds are way too complacent...as if this fucking garbage bag of a movie shouldn't fit to some standard that all other movies are on. But don't worry. Lucas still blows ass as a director. I don't care how many wookiee-loving motherfucking computer geeks there are out there...

He is a closet homosexual - this is derived from countless interviewers who ask him other things that people like you would never ask, e.g. his sex/marriage life. He's been married like once, a long time ago (queue cliche), he adopts kids, and hasn't even dated in years. Derive what you want.

I understand how lost of a cause it all is - like getting people to vote against Bush. It's a really, really similar concept though. Complacency is the key!

There's a TV series and a cartoon. Both will cover the period between episodes III and IV IIRC. They haven't said what will specifically take place then.

I couldn't help but be bored through this entire movie. The sabre fights were good, Hayden's Anakin wasn't too bad, and even the dialogue wasn't as god awful as episode one. For some reason though, I just didn't find it to be terribly interesting. The only emotion I got out of the entire movie was a "oh thats fucked up" when Anakin bust out a light sabre in the face of that inquisitive kid.

The problem for me, and this may have been because I don't follow the books/cartoon/whatever and went into the movie with ep I II IV V and VI knowledge, was that there was no plot development done for General Grevious or the seperatists. They were in the movie as backdrops, existing mainly in the background of a story that centers around Anakin's fall and Palpatines usurpering of power. Thats great, but it makes episode I irrelevent and episode II remotely relevant.

As stated in better reviews, this movie would have made a great Episode I as it climaxed at the very end and only in the final 30 mins did I begin to become intrigued.

It's supposed to be like a roller coaster, it climbs the hill for about 2 hours and then drops crazy fast for the last half hour.

It did just that.

Yeah, that was the cartoon.

and regarding Mace: Was it just me or did he grow in size when fighting Sidious? His head looked like it was going to explode, and it seemed like he could no longer hold his lightsaber baseball bat style because his hands were too big.

i stated before that Episodes I and II were made essentially to make the best possible Episode III in respect to story and cgi.

I think it's good Lucas explained the entire transition from the Republic to the Empire. I know it definite helped me understand what they were fighting for in the original trilogy.

The thing I like most about the prequels are the Jedi and the influences the Jedi have on the galaxy. Watching at Episode III i was like--hurry up and go the Jedi council scene! .

Did you guys notice that the guy told Captain Antilles to wipe C-3PO's memory, but not R2's. Someone said that there are lots of different R2 droids in the galaxy, but this is the same one. In Ep IV, C-3PO tells Luke that they have had no previous masters other than Captain Antilles. That means that all throughout the original trilogy, R2 knew the entire history of what happened. But I would think that after C-3PO's memory was wiped, R2 could just upload what happened to him...

Anyway, after watching Ep IV and V again there were a few things I never really noticed. Like the second that Luke mentions Obi-Wan Kenobi at the dinner table at Tatooine, Beru and Owen look at each other with a look as if they know something is up. And it was pretty cool how Yoda tells Obi-Wan that he has been watching over Luke for all of his life. But how come R2 didn't "recognize" Yoda on Dagobah?

Oh and btw, interesting how General Grevious was coughing and had a heart and shit, yet he was able to survive in space after he busted the window on the spaceship. Oh and could Mace Windu be considered more powerful than Yoda? Windu was able to take down Sideous rather quickly by himself but Yoda was obviously struggling with him.

i'm a star wars rube myself, but i'd like to think that his power grew after that little battle, kinda like the tide shifted more to the dark side and he had more to feed off of
