i do like how they pointed out that lee fowler will be made or broken with this...ill admit when i was a freshman infinity ago i was excited about amato....and nothing (really)

its sad and ironic that our teams are sooo very talented and cant seem to beat everyone consistently....thats all i ask really....consistency

Quick Quiz:

a) our teams aren't as talented as inflated State Egos make them to be.
b) we dont develop talent
c) all of the above because jesus christ look at herb and amato.

^That list is horrible. You left out 2 of the major candidates that we'll probably get if Barnes falls through...

Bill Gillispie - Texas A&M
Frank Haith - Miami

And two of the top midmajor coaches that we could go after.

Mark Turgeon - Wichita State
Dana Altman - Creighton

Bye bye Barnes....for the 8 millionth time:

Quote :
"Barnes' brother, Tommy Barnes, who lives in Hickory, said he talked to his brother Monday. When the topic of a potential return to ACC country came up in their conversation, Tommy Barnes said, his brother replied that he thought he had made it clear to the media in recent weeks that he was happy at Texas. Prior to playing State in Dallas during the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament, Rick Barnes said that he had no desire to coach anywhere but Texas.

"He probably won't ever leave Austin. He's got it made," said Tommy Barnes, 54. "He said to me, 'Why do they keep bringing [the N.C. State job] up? I told them three weeks ago I would never leave Texas.' ""

^^^^^^^ not to mention that it has been made QUITE apparent that we can't hire McMillan since he doesn't have a degree.

I would love to get Barnes just to stick it in everyone’s face that said we couldn't get him.

but when Has State ever done something like that we are always on the wrong end of the deal

I don't like Barnes personally but he is a very good recruiter/coach so I'd love him here..

However, I don't see what more he can say to get our fans off of him. He isn't leaving UT. Does he need to personally go door to door to bitch slap every State fan before that is accepted?

very true

none of this shit means anything.....he may not come here, but until I see news that he has re-upped with Tejas for a big deal, it is not over!

You KNOW that the News and Observer will use any excuse to try and crush all hope. Also, anyone notice their new section "Eyes on the Wolfpack"?? Something tells me that this is a prelude to their future investigations into all things NC State to try and find some illegalities....

It was reported in the Austin paper anyway.. it's not like a N&O exclusive.. maybe the Austin paper is part of a vast conspiracy to dash the hopes of all NC State fans too..

^ FWIW in the very same article there was some very positive news on Chris Wright..

** David Glenn says that Texas will have a press conference later today to announce a raise/extension for Mr. Barnes from what I read on packpride..

Someone said that on 620 AM that Barnes has already signed his contract extension with Texas and that it will be announced today.

Take that for what it's worth...it's hearsay.

I don't know man.. I know it's still wishful thinking but that taken with his bro's quotes and his own quotes from 3 weeks ago closes the book on Barnes for me..

I can't imagine all this taken together gives us much of a chance with him..

^the barnes bro quotes could have been taken out of context, (from the N&O) well, those do suck, but lets just wait and see

ColoradoWolf over on statefans said shit is still in the works, and nothing is over/set in stone again so be patient to all

i see.

however, if we end up having to go to a mid-major coach....which it seems more and more like a possibility.....I think he would be one of my top picks.

OMG I THINK WE WILL GET BARNES BUT WE WILL NOT KNOW IT B/C EVERYONE IS OUT TO GET NC STATE

If we have to take a coach like Ruland, we might as well cancel any plans for the postseason till about 2009.
