^, ^^ Sweet. Their record could be my favorite so far this year, so I'm pretty excited about that show.

They were really fun when I saw them a month ago in TX. They brought along an artist who paints live to the music, and that adds a nice dimension as well.

I'll be there. They had some thing on their website where they wanted fans to submit home videos for them to play as a backdrop during shows on this tour. Don't know if that will be in addition to the painting or replacing it.

Dag, I'd really like to go see Cloud Cult. Is their latest cd on par with the meaning of 8? I might have to break down and buy it off their website.

wtf. So, what is the deal with the Local 506? Do you really have to purchase a membership 3 days in advance to attend a show? Is this flexible at all or largely ignored? Is it one of those things where you can just ask some random person at the door to be their guest?

^ go ahead and fill it out tonight or some time before the show, but I've never had it enforced on me or had my membership requested.

I filled one out ages ago, but never got any confirmation or anything. It's a formality they have to do because they sell liquor at the club (and no food), so per ABC rules and regs, they have to be a membership establishment.

Hmm, I'll fill it out. So, they are a membership establishment but don't request a membership card at the door?

I'm guessing I can just harass someone in line to sponsor me if they do request it. If I do have a problem getting in and anyone wants to sponsor me and a friend, I'll buy em a beer. Send me a pm if you read this and that sounds cool.

They do require the card at the door, but it doesn't matter if you do it 3 days in advance. For the last show I went to they just had two lines; one for people with their cards and one for people who needed to buy a membership or didn't have their card yet. Was about half and half.

^^^ In the past year, I've probably been to 8 to 10 shows there (Broken West, Grizzly Bear, Midlake, etc, etc, etc) and I've never once been asked for my card.

I think a lot of it depends on the time you arrive as well. I normally get there early.

i usually can zoom by all those peeps trying to buy memberships. Really helped out when my gf and I showed up late to Tilly and Wall. Cloud Cult is the start of my spring concert series.

Radiohead will be on Conan Wednesday night performing House Of Cards. The performance was taped to go along with NBC's green week.

^ nice, I'll be sure to set my DVR.

I saw some people on atease speculating that they may show up and play somewhere that night for those in the NYC area, lol.

ETA-- heading out to the 506 for Cloud Cult tonight -- it'll probably mean I miss Sweater Weather, who I've enjoyed seeing perform before, but I'm sure I'll see 'em again soon enough.

I'm pretty excited to see what Cloud Cult's live shows are like

And Jesus Christ, are The Forms the worst band ever invented? Like, ever? That guy's voice gave me cancer.

Shadows Fall was great last night and so were the opening metal bands. The singer from The Showdown had a nosebleed throughout their set and kept rocking out. Then he came out and moshed with us when Shadows Fall was playing.

When I left there weren't too many people left and the last bid was $125 with one more guy going over there to write something down.

wolf parade @ disco rodeo july 29th......is it worth getting a ticket for? i've been to the place a few times when it was the ritz and vaguely remember but the sound seemed to be horrendous. heard the same story from a lot of you.

if you haven't been since they added the bizarro wooden dance floor, then that'll worsen the experience compared to what you remember

it's a shitty sounding room, but it's not worse than martin street/raleigh music hall/downtown events center/mike dillon's partyhangoutcentre

i saw she & him a couple months ago. they were pretty milquetoast, to the point where i'd say you'd be getting the same experience if you put on a zooey deschanel screensaver and played the album.
