David ... IPVO is now NMKT.

Still a sorta volitile stock, but not as many opportunities to play it like there use to be.

right now, AAPL definitely.... owned it for a week and already up over 5%

TIE dropped sharply after a runup b/c the takeover rumor did not materialize. Put into perspective, TIE is doing better than the competition even with the pullback. Their CEO is 75 years old. He has to get out sometime...

damn, AAPL's already gone up so much, though...it's up a bunch more today. I think I'll sit on the cash right now and see if they have a little slide where I can jump in.

I would invest half of it in low risk mutual funds and then take the other half over to my friend Asadulah who works in securities...

i think i like the mentality that high success of the iPhone is priced into AAPL already, so as of right now everyone is expecting it to do well, it will be hard for them to beat expectations

but then again, riding the hype has proven beneficial already, assuming you get out after gains

^ those are my thoughts too

AAPL has gone up ~$30 since they announced the iPhone. My only concern is that the high price could make it Apple's PS3.

i've always felt that way about everything appl does. plus, theyr'e nototrious for product delays.

but i got tired of watching from the sidelines while it went up, and the analysts are putting 150 and 160 price targets on it.

Fidelity didn't have much on them, but after some digging around I found some good news on it.

I bought about $1700 of AAPL in March of 2006 at a whopping price of $64.
Today, after 14 months, I'm up 94%.

I originally planned on selling it when it broke $100, but that didn't exactly go as planned... Maybe a split will be coming up sometime soon. (not that that really makes too much of a difference --- aapl has been climbing steadily for two years and will have to hit the top at some point...)

An alarmist view ?

http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article1204.html?ref=patrick.net

----------------------------------
So, what gives?

It's easy. The markets are just responding to the growth in the money
supply which is in double-digits just about everywhere around the world.
When there are more dollars chasing the same number of assets - stocks
go up. It's just that simple. What we're seeing isn't the result of
investor confidence or industrial output. Heck no! Stocks are rising
because our $800 billion current account deficit is recycling into the
stock market. What we are really seeing is the first signs of inflation
- galloping inflation which will soon spill over into the broader
economy.

If we eliminate the "frothy" exuberance of America's trade deficit, then
the stock market would be sucking air through a tube right now. And, you
can bet that as soon as our foreign creditors wise-up and start raising
interest rates the Dow Jones will quickly become the Dow Doldrums and
the economy will nosedive into a 1929-type Depression.

^Replace "stock market" with "housing market" and you get what people have been saying forever. As they say, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

maybe, but our government's shitty economic policy HAS to come to a head at some point.

I don't think we'll see a 1929-ish crash, but stagflation is very very likely in the coming years.

I went heavy on an options play on CTF when it was around 78 and was ready to bite the bullet when the stock went up to 90, but fortunately for me its fallen to back below 80. If it will stay there for the rest of the week then I'll be happy.

yep.

prob buy tomorrow morning. wish my Hilton (HLT) shares would sell--the share price shit the bed right about the time I put mine up for sale...but my position is inconsequentially small, and I'm still up 21%, so I think I might just sell them where they're priced right now so I can afford a little more AAPL.

^^ below 32, now

Man, I know AAPL is probably a good short term play at $120 based on what all of the "experts" are saying...but I just have this nagging fear that the I-phone is already priced in, and unless everything goes absolutely perfect, we won't see those big gains.

you think GNVC has hit bottom?

wonder if TASR is a good buy. up 9.2% on the following news, but the french deal alone will more than double their annual revenue, and if this causes other countries or entities to consider tasers as well... (ok let's get real, who actually copies the french?)

they're also not only dominant in their market--they're pretty much the only game in town.

but i just blew the last little bit of money in my acct on AAPL, so there's no point in even really looking into it right now (at least for me)
