Picked up the new Sigur Ros from SchoolKids earlier today. I'm very happy with it. Can't wait for the DVD in a few weeks.

So I finally got Challengers after coming into some money this week, and I was all ready to say that for once I actually liked the Behar songs more than the Newman songs on a NP record.

Then came "Go Places."

Carl Newman, you brilliant bastard.

Someone find the new Andrew Bird EP Soldier On. I've heard a few of the songs on it already and Trees Were Mistaken is pretty good.

^ eh... that one doesn't do much for me, but overall it's a really really solid double-CD of Dylan covers. My personal faves are Jeff Tweedy 'Simple Twist of Fate' and Yo La Tengo 'Fourth Time Around'

I know it's being sold at his European tour dates as of last week, so hopefully it will find its way to a blog soon.

I'll keep an eye out.

Anyway we can get an up of that Rivers Cuomo demo?

The new Hives album has four or five songs on it that are absolute dynamite.

^ I've never given any credence to anyone from Pitchfork not named DiCrescenzo.

I've waited years to finally hear that "Bla-" at the beginning

EDIT: I don't know if it would make a difference to that writer, but the voicebox was used to distinguish robot's part, which was to be played by one Karl Koch

Burial - Untrue
Quote :
"After the surprise success of his self-titled, low-key debut on Hyperdub , Burial returns with an eagerly awaited follow up album, ‘Untrue’. The new record is weird soul music, hypersoul, lovingly processing spectral female voices into vaporised R&B and smudged 2step garage. Voices are blurred, smeared, pitched up, pitched down and pitch bent until their content becomes irrelevant and they whisper their saccharin sweet nothings into the void."

I'm still trying to find that Andrew Bird "soldier on". Cif82 -- did you have any luck finding it?

A random request, but does anyone have The Zombies -- "Into the Afterlife" ? It was a follow up of rare material that wasn't featured on their "Heaven" box set and I can't find that bitch anywhere.

Superfriend 45 second clip streaming at the top of the page. This sounds really stupid, but for the last four years (when I learned about Songs from the Black Hole) this has basically been the holy grail of unreleased songs for me.

This is one of several pictures of the Radiohead discbox... at first, I put the image up here, but then I thought that some folks may want to see it for the first time on their own and open the box on their own, so I didn't want to spoil that experience for them.

The front cover and entire package is amazing, though. I'll put up more links to pics if people want them.

man i just watched some live minus the bear videos. makes me even madder that ive never seen them live. they sounded GREAT live. i also had them pegged as a band that might not sound that great live for some reason. something about them. but theyve been TIGHT every live video ive seen of them now.

yeah i know, it still blows my mind sometimes though which albums get nominated.

"hey there delilah" for song of the year? "TI vs TIP" for rap album of the year?

No kidding... me too. I have no idea how it's been out since March and I didn't start listening to it until 2 weeks ago. Good stuff.

Kirsten Dunst on back up vocals. She actually has a good voice... who'd a thunk it.
