Carl Edwards won, good for him.

Jimmie Johnson finished 14th, dropping him from 1st to 4th in the chase
Jeff Gordon moved to 1st, followed by only 2 points by Tony Stewart ( )

I just heard them say that Jimmie Johnson's car was actually a back-up car, but they made it into a much better car. They think he has the ability to do good today starting from 43rd.

I was wrong earlier, I missed that piece of information, he did have the poll, but had to get a new car... so he was bumped to the back of the field.

its nascar

there are no rules

just a sanctioning body that decides what's best for the event at any given time

I did get to hear the part about the wreck and TS leaving the care center and jumping a golf cart before anyone could ask him anything. I hope he went and cried into his pillow so he could collect his thoughts for his comment about this!

I believe it was get the fuck out of here. it wasn't an interview, they just stuck a camera in there when two drivers were talking.

What is this Biffle finish issue?

biffle ran out of gas in turn 4, and couldn't maintain pace car speed across the finish line. He went down on the flat apron and slowed up dramatically and bowyer, johnson, and mears passed him because he was going so slow. TECHNICALLY bowyer should have won, with biffle dropping back to 4th. In fact, in the online timing this is what happened. But Nascar decided that biffle had won because he maintained "causious" speed and the other cars shouldn't have passed him before crossing the finish line.

by nascar technicality since their switch to a fleet style type of caution formation, when a race is going to finish under caution the field is "frozen". Thus by their view even though cars had not crossed the S/F line the race winner had already been determined and Greg Biffle was declared the winner even though he was not the first to cross the finish line.

and like they said, they weren't gonna go and tell the 16 team to leave victory lane

even when its frozen you still have to maintain cautious speed, just ask robby gordon he knows all about that.

boyer should have won that race

NASCAR did the right thing. Even though the rules sound a little subjective, they would be more subjective if they allowed you to pass slower cars under yellow.

How fast can you go under yellow in order to pass a "slow" car????

Biffle did cross the line, so he wins. Had he stalled before crossing the line, I could see where the other guys might have reason to make a fuss.

Quote :
" NASCAR issued a statement Saturday evening about the incident during the Busch race from Ramsey Poston, NASCAR Managing Director of Corporate Communications: "Once the caution came out on Lap 72 the field was frozen. Once the field is frozen, all cars must maintain cautious pace in order to be scored. At the time that the field was frozen, the #59 was in the lead. The #55 did not maintain cautious pace and by NASCAR rule, cars not maintaining cautious pace are scored only when they blend back into the continuous line."

now wtf is the rule nascar? "cautious" speed or "reasonable" speed.

sure looks like they are making shit up as they go along.

I thought that when the caution was given, the field was frozen. I thought that's what they've been doing all season too.

frozen doesn't literally mean nothing can happen. I mean look at robby gordon in the busch race at montreal. he got spun out under caution but dropped back to 14th according to nascar. if you can't keep up the pace under caution, you should definitely be able to be passed.

That's right, I forgot all about Robby Gordon's incident. But I don't really remember, was that a last lap, finish under caution issue; or was it under a regular caution, or a non-final lap caution?

it wasn't a last lap, but damn close to it and ended up causing a gwc finish.

In that case, I assume that their reasoning will be that it was a the final lap under caution.

the county isn't letting him build the drag strip he wants, and smith said he'd take the track to another area near charlotte if they don't let him build the strip.

yeah i read all that stuff this morning. The proposed area for the dragstrip is about 4 miles from where I live.

I understand where the residents are coming from, but I also know from living in this town for my entire life that Bruton Smith would have no remorse pulling up the roots and taking off with a new track. He was the demise of Wilkesboro when they wouldn't sell him the other half of that track and now look at that town.

I think Concord will ultimately allow the construction to happen, although if you are familiar with that area there, to me, are better locations for the drag strip.

And I haven't read too much into what the drag strip will offer, but if it is soley for NHRA events and sactioned events then it won't interfere with the quality of life people are scared that it might.

But if it is a public drag strip, much like they have in mooresville, that has weekly amatuer nights and things like that then yes I can see it getting really annoying.

NASCAR completely made Concord and much of the north Charlotte metro area...it would be just another podunk North Carolina town that didn't bring in millions of tourism dollars a year if it wasn't for Bruton, NASCAR, etc...but apparently some noise pollution in one neighborhood isn't worth your entire town's economy? please

also who do yall like at talladega this weekend?
