whenever Narrow Stairs ends and "Marching Bands of Manhattan" begins, it depresses me how bad Narrow Stairs is.

I am close to giving up on it.

yea i think i said on the page before, i enjoy it a lot more now, there are definitely songs I skip pretty much every time I listen to the album though. Then again Plans and Trans. have those too.

Its certainly nothing to write home about but better than my first few listens through.

the only song i skip is i will possess your heart. i can't figure out why that's the single, it's the worst song on the album.

the main song I skip is "talking bird." I sometimes skip "i will possess your heart" only because I listened to it a good bit before the album came out and I kind of wore it out even though I like it.

Thanks to Kainen for that Jim Noir recommendation... that's exactly the type of stuff I love and it's fantastic.

I've been listening to that, My Morning Jacket and Fleet Foxes non-stop. Fleet Foxes at the 506 in July!

Some good news!

http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/50828-new-okkervil-river-album-due-in-september

Quote :
"We don't know much just yet, but we do know this: On September 9, Jagjaguwar will issue The Stand Ins, the fifth full-length album from Austin, Texas' Okkervil River.

The set is described as a sequel to last year's exquisite The Stage Names LP, which its equally Tinseltown-ready title would allude to.

You'll recall that The Stage Names was originally conceived as a double album, as Will Sheff touched on in our interview with him from last summer. Guess this is that, then?

As for Okkervil, they are now officially down one Meiburg, but that's not gonna stop them from touring the heck outta the rest of the year. "

^ I agree --- as I said many times last year, The Okkervil River show @ the Cradle, The Midlake show @ the 506 and The National show @ the Cradle were the tops of last year for me.

I feel like I'm leaving some out, but those 3 just blew me away. (oh, and of course, The Shins @ Meymandi was very nice).

I'm really excited about hearing this disc --- hopefully, since most of the material seems to have been recorded some time ago, we'll get a leak earlier than usual.

Holy hell... I was just listening to "Sequestered in Memphis" yesterday and wondering when the full thing would leak. When "boys and girls in america" leaked, it was just a few days prior to the release date... I figured this would be the case as well.

Thanks, Cif82

the cat stuff is pretty simple.

it's annoying as fuck and completely unecessary, but just find the animals that are sitting rather than standing.

I think i've failed it once out of like 10 times.

i feel like i should reiterate how good that Fleet Foxes album is. like a million times better than the new MMJ (only mention them bc they do sound similar). "He Doesn't Know Why" is one of the best tracks i've heard this year

I like the Wolf Parade so much now that I'm more than likely going to that Disco Rodeo show now. Why can't they just play at the cradle again?

And Sigur Ros has an statement on their website :
"next tuesday, the 27th of may, the band will make an announcement on sigurros.com. for (a little) more information have a look at this image on our flickr account."

^ LOL -- I don't know... I just found that link and I'm about to download it myself. Oh, I also found this and it might be pretty cool to check out:

El Madmo - El Madmo (Norah Jones' new indie band)
hxxp://filesurf.ru/41337
or
hxxp://rapidshare.com/files/117087791/EM-EM.rar

http://www.myspace.com/elmadmo The "carlo" song featured on their page is kind of odd, but the other 2 aren't

That's Norah Jones disguised in the blonde wig on the myspace link.

From Wiki.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norah_Jones

Quote :
"El Madmo
On May 12, 2006; Jones (disguised in a blonde wig, heavy make-up, fishnets and short shorts) played guitar and sang vocals in the tongue-in-cheek punk band El Madmo.[16] They opened for the band Pela. The band consists of "El" (Handsome Band's Daru Oda), "Maddie" (Norah Jones) and "Mo"(Handsome Band's Andrew Borger). Their debut record will be released on Conor Oberst's Team Love Records on May 20, 2008. "

Pat´s track (Automatic) is pretty good. Where Brian and Scott failed, I think he succeeded. The Angel and the One sounds damn good. That may be the one song on the album where I don´t see how the old fans can be too disappointed. Only listened to both of those songs once, though, so we´ll see how I feel later.

Keep in mind, I'm also not 100% certain that those 8 files (the original 8 leaked tracks that are contained in the rar file) in there are the final mixes. I think they are, but not 100%.

I just figured it was worth putting up and when/if a better copy comes around, I'll listen to that one.
