I'm seeing he's a two-star on Packpride. Three stars on rivals I'm guessing?
Looks like a great addition though. He's got legit size and good measurables. I wonder how productive he's been from a stats standpoint? 8/11/2008 4:07:23 PM |

Thanks. 9 TD's is impressive.
Didn't realize he was a two-way player. That only helps. 8/11/2008 4:15:19 PM |

There are over 240 members of the NC State Football Recruiting by Pack Pride facebook group. A few notable members include Clinton Simpkins III, Justin Brown, Travis Bond, Steven Moore and Robert Crisp. Of course Zach Greene and Corey Gattis are also members, but are committed to Duke.
Crisp's screen name apparently is something like ncsuballer with some number at the end. Seems like some good mojo. If Crisp commits early on it could really get the wheels rolling, especially considering we are in good with Creecy, and are already on Kendall Moore and Gabriel Henderson early. 8/11/2008 7:50:02 PM |

Looks like we are DT Tyson Chandler's leader. I wonder if he could end up being one of our next commitments. At 6-6 344 he'd probably make a great nose tackle for our eventual switch to the 3-4. 8/12/2008 1:35:01 PM |

Tyson Chandler is pretty lanky to play DT. He had a good season with Chris Paul though, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. 8/12/2008 2:04:13 PM |

Anyone think we land TE Asa Watson out of Rock Hill, SC? His father played at Maryland and his brother started at Duke, transferred to Georgia after one year, and finished at Northwestern. His brother Ben Watson plays TE for the Patriots. We may be one of his top schools along with Maryland b/c of the obvious connection since his father played there. He has some decent offers even though he's only a 2* on Rivals and has yet to be evaluated on Scout. ESPN has scouted him as a DE since he plays on both sides of the ball, and they have him as the #157 DE nationally.
Asa Watson Tight end Rock Hil (SC) Rock Hill Ht: 6-foot-4 Wt: 210 lbs Forty: 4.69 secs
Schools Interested (known offers in italics) Boston College Duke Georgia Tech Maryland North Carolina State Furman Clemson South Carolina Buffalo North Carolina

Quote : | "Watson is a two-way player at the high school level as a tight end and defensive end. He may in the long run be better suited for the defensive end position. Either way he will need to add serious bulk to his lean and rangy frame. He does on film look to be a long-limbed kid and seems to have a good wingspan. Displays a solid get-off. Will flash the ability to shoot his hands and maintain some separation. He needs to do that much more consistently. He is adequate at the point-of-attack, but with his size you worry some about him being able to hold his ground. He is a physical kid that will lower his shoulder and create a collision, but would like to see him uses his hands to more quickly shed. He has a good motor. Would like to see him channel some of his energy into better overall technique. Displays good straight line speed, but needs to refine his running motion some as he can seem to have a lot of wasted motion on the move. He will try and work swim moves as a pass rusher, but at times it is too little too late as he will attack a blocker head-up and often led shoulder first. Has the reach to cause some problems off the edge, but needs to have a better plan of attack. Watson is a solid prospect who flashes some upside." |

TOB said Sam Jones will be here in January. So unless a huge change of heart comes(the boy has been with us for 2 years now, so i don't see it happenin), he'll be here for spring practice come '09.
Linney leaving hurts. Thomas Barnes i can live with, b/c he was beat out by younger players(maddox and lucas) before manning and beasley even had a shot. So that doesn't hurt so much(except for depth this year) but losing linney hurts b/c he played a position that we need players at, DT. 8/26/2008 9:47:11 PM |
