^ i hate to say it but there's pretty much nobody other than Louisville that'll give UNC a run for their money in that region

well, they had to hit a shot at the buzzer pretty much to beat VT only a week ago, so it's not like they aren't vulnerable

they've been doing that shit all season long, barely beating someone after it looked like they would lose. And they keep doing it again and again

One out of the three teams I want to lose lost this weekend.

Duke
Carolina
Stanford

And to be fair, the only reason I want Stanford to lose is because all of their games turn into the twins show. Everything that happens on the court revolves around what they are doing, even when they're on the bench. I'd be equally happy if they'd just fire the commentators.

^^dude, when the A&M fans aren't saying anything about that call, why do you think anyone else would care?

not trying to be mean, but their fans understand they are probably not going to get that call that late. He was actually fouled twice on that play, I think Collison had his other elbow. UCLA was getting bad calls all night as Love was held or hooked nearly every play (see 2 seconds before fadeaway). I can't remember there ever being a crop of refs that have been scrutinized so badly...

Anyways, Sloan still would've had to hit two to send it to OT. That would've been crazy if he went to the line.

UCLA has been doing shit like that towards the end of the season. (the over the backboard shot against Cal was my favorite) One of the reasons i want them to go down.. preferably before the final 4 but that's probably too tall of an order for Xavier

Interesting free throw tidbit pointed out by Ken Pomeroy at basketballprospectus.com:

Tennessee (62% ft) was 8-2 in one-possession games this year, and Memphis (59% ft) was 3-0 in such games. Wagner (60% ft) was 9-1 in such games, 12-1 in games decided by 4 points or less (only 11-7 in other games)

This UCLA "conspiracy" is getting increasingly gay. I really hope the refs don't play a big factor in any other games, this shit's ridiculous.

you're ridiculous. Duke is the only team that's allowed to get away w/ this kinda shit!

Quote :
"I’m sure A&M had some calls go their way, it happens in all games but
you hope they are roughly even. These refs managed to give the ball
back to ucla 3 times after they touched it last going out. In the last
10 minutes! They changed a call from loose ball to offensive foul and
denied A&M 2 free throws. They ignored love mugging people on nearly
half his 7 “blocked” shots.

You don’t think that blatant of incompetency can affect the tone of the
game? A couple of fouls on love and he wouldn’t have been able to
crash down on people the way he was. A&M was taking the ball into the
paint where they had scored all game but changing the way the game was
called in the last 10 minutes took that way from them. This was 8 on 5
for the last part of the second half, and you call it whining??

That game was called all-around shitty. I'm just getting sick of the MSM saying shit like "Collison was fouled (Stanford game) but the refs shouldn't have called it. Sloan was fouled (A&M game) and the refs should have called it. I'm sure UCLA fans wish they would have called it now.

Haha I just found an example in consecutive paragraphs. Fucking AP story too.

Quote :
".....After trailing most of the way, UCLA survived a tight second-round game for the third consecutive year, edging Texas A&M 51-49 Saturday when Josh Shipp blocked Donald Sloan’s shot in the lane in the closing seconds.

A newspaper photo the next day showed Shipp’s left hand on Sloan’s right wrist, but no foul was called.

Another call that went the Bruins’ way came when they clinched the Pac-10 regular-season title over Stanford. They forced overtime when Lawrence Hill was called for a foul while blocking a last-second shot by Collison."

damn, trustees at davidson are paying for tickets and hotel for anyone there who wants to go to their sweet 16 game

Quote :
"Davidson Will Pay for Students to See Wildcats in NCAA Tourney

Posted: Today at 6:56 p.m.

DAVIDSON, N.C. — One of Davidson College's famous perks is the free laundry service for students. Now the school is adding another freebie: watching the Wildcats play in the NCAA tournament's round of 16.

The school's board of trustees set up a fund Wednesday to pay for any student wishing to travel to Detroit to see Davidson play Wisconsin in the Midwest Regional semifinals. Students will get free bus transportation, two nights lodging and a ticket to Friday's game.

Behind sophomore sensation Stephen Curry, Davidson upset Gonzaga and Georgetown last week for the school's first NCAA tournament wins in 39 years.

While the drop-off laundry service and trip to Detroit are free, annual tuition at the exclusive, liberal-arts school is just under $41,000 a year."

for 41k/year they should get a full ride to watch them play

with only 8 games over two days, why the hell are they overlapping them and starting them so late?

10pm start time is retarded.

and before anyone says anything... Yes, the ncaa tournament should revolve around eastern standard time.

so more people can see the games?

7:10 and 7:27 tips aren't really too bad, but 7:27 is a bit late when you still have another game to play

how about 7:07 and 7:17

i don't see why they dont do 3-5-7-9 start times each day. That way, people could watch every game if they chose.

i must say that is quite surprising, but in the case of memphis, they didn't hardly play anyone worth a damn. if they shoot 12 of 20 free throws against MSU or tejas, i wager it will likely cost them the game

to do this they would have to sell a ticket that would include all 4 games in an arena in 1 session, that would be hard to do. plus arenas would probably rather have the 2 sessions.

not to mention of course the 30 minutes between games

Washington State is pretty boring to watch and have no names on their jerseys. I bet their homecourt doesn't even have color on it.

Seriously though, their defense is awesome...
