Jackleg's offer to smoke crack with me in a tunnel and previous discussion about the rape tunnel in Latham Park reminded me about the rape bridge in my neighborhood.

Shit's pretty cool in the warm months if you like walking and exercising and shit. But when it turns dark and cold, the railroad bums come out and it's about the last damn place you want to be. 12/13/2010 2:22:28 PM |

I actually will be working in Kernersville. I'd willing to commute about 30 minutes to and from work. What's downtown Greensboro like?... I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. Is it shitty? I've considered living pretty close to downtown Gboro, if not in downtown Gboro, just to be close to happening hangouts and young ppl. Don't really know anyone from this area so I'm gonna have to do some friend-making. 1/7/2011 5:33:20 PM |

G.O.D and I live downtown (inside the little loop thing) on w. washington. downtown apartments and townhouses are kinda expensive for Greensboro I thought. (got a pretty good deal but still)
depends on how much you want to spend? you're gonna want to get to 73? or 40 pretty direct as well. definitely more going on downtown than anywhere else...
DO NOT look at cityview. over priced and full of undergrads (read: party's every night till 2am+) place looks like jersey shore....
what kinda place are you looking for? new/old/rennovated? size? price? location?

i don't know that i would want to live near downtown, unless you're planning to hang out there A LOT. i would consider living near the airport which is pretty close to kernersville. you might also consider winston-salem, though i'm unfamiliar with the traffic situation in that area.

Well I would prefer "newer" but renovated would be fine as well. As long as it's clean and looks nice. I am willing to spend up to prolly around $750 a month on rent... although the less money, the better. I guess whether I get a 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom kinda depends on the difference in rent at that particular place.
The main reason why I mentioned the whole downtown thing is because I enjoy being around people... it would be nice to be able to walk to a bar or coffee shop to chill in the evenings. I've never NOT had a roommate, so this whole living by myself thing is going to be new to me. Thanks for the advice about Cityview... I was actually planning on visiting there in the next few weeks, but I guess I will mark that off my list.
Living out closer to the airport would make for a more convenient commute and would be less congested. I also assume that I would get a nicer place for the same amount of money out there. But I doubt it would be as lively and there would probably be less young people out there?
Arab13, do you know anything about the Lofts at Greensborough? 1/7/2011 8:48:24 PM |
twoozles All American 20735 Posts user info edit post |
i think you would be surprised.... there are some decent bars out that way and def some young professionals living in the area. and you're still not far from downtown greensboro or winston-salem

There are several apartments in the Wendover area (Specifically near Celebration Station, Big Tree Way) that are right off the highway. You can get to K'Ville in about 15 minutes from here, and you would have access to just about any shopping you need on Wendover. 1/8/2011 10:46:23 AM |

I lived in Allerton Place apartments, and I really liked it there. It's very close to the airport, near Wendover, and High Point, and close enough that you won't hate the drive to Kernersville. If you're a golfer, there's a huge golfing place across the street.
It's on the corner of Highway 68 and Pleasant Ridge Road. If this area is one you would consider, I can give you more details on the place itself. I really liked the location, but it is maybe more remote than what you're looking for. 1/8/2011 10:50:59 AM |

^^ which one do you normally go to? i always went to the carousel. i think that is considered thuggish by some because i HEARD people were shot there once. but pretty sure people have been shot EVERYWHERE in greensboro. anyway, it was never ghetto when i went. usually the theaters were pretty empty/i was often the only patron there. and their tickets were cheaper. snacks, too.
and once they showed the room. hahaha.
