I think Manningham is a serious contender to be the Giants #1 the rest of the year. With the injuries and no one stepping up, I really think Manningham and Smith will get a lot of looks. I don't think 10 receptions per week will be kept up, but I could see him being a solid #2 WR. He's scored twice in 2 games, so it's apparently Manning likes him.

Not sure if I'm sold on Knox though.

^Agreed. Manningham IMO is emerging as a favored target of Manning, in a Giants receiving corps in which noone had distinguished themself as a clear #1 receiver. It is likely that Manning and Manningham's relationship will continue to develop as they play more together, especially with other guys out. Manningham (along with Nate Washington) will allow me insurance to put Roy Williams on the trade block for a RB2 to aid my injury-riddled RB corps.

Johnny Knox is the classic potential emerging fantasy talent. While it is certainly possible he could fade back into obscurity, it is also possible he emerges as a favorite target for Cutler and a servicable flex or backup WR option. It's generally not going to hurt you to take a flyer on guys in the last roster spot. It's not like a cut a starter to take him...you probably mocked the guy who picked up Colston after game 1 his rookie season.

I still say Knox is 3rd behind Hester and Bennett

Even with Cutler, a 3rd WR on that team is only fantasy worthy for the long term in deep leagues

I picked up Manningham yesterday because I needed another solid WR I can play the matchups with. The Giants have 3 games coming up that they should do well in, and I expect with Nicks out for another couple games, and Hixon questionable, Manningham/Smith are going to see a lot of catches.

Take it and laugh all the way to the bank.

Huge question marks around slaton right now for me....IF he stays healthy, there's the O-Line, fumbles, etc. threatening his value.

S-Jax has more upside IMO....

espn's predictions have Fred Jackson as the number 1 dude this week

I really can't argue, playing New Orleans

But this will be the last week before Marshawn comes back

so sell high after he blows up for 25 points

Marion Barber out 1-2 weeks

Quote :
"Updating a previous report, the NBC affiliate of the Dallas-Fort Worth area is reporting that Cowboys' running back Marion Barber will miss 1-to-2 weeks with his strained quad injury.

It looks like the Cowboys have almost officially ruled Barber out for this weekend, so now would be a good time to jump on Tashard Choice for anyone needing running back help. Felix Jones will also get an increased load this week, so if you have him it is probably worth starting him. We will continue to monitor Barber's status."

Drop Jerious Norwood for Tashard Choice off waivers?

I have Michael Turner, but Norwood has been trash so far and is now injured possibly. Plus, I don't like handcuffs that much.

I say yeah

Injuries are a fluke, but I say Turner is one of the least likely of the elite backs to go down, just bases on his style of running

So should I trade MJD and get Welker/Portis in return?

No.

MJD is a top 3 pick.

Welker will be in and out with injuries and Portis is hitting a steep decline.

If it's PPR (which I imagine it is due to the intrigue of Welker), it only makes MJD more valuable.

DO NOT MAKE THAT TRADE.

Overall, I've said plenty of times that I don't particularly care for Slaton...

but drop/trade him? Not quite yet. The litmus test will come over the next few weeks in battles against the Raiders, Arizona, Jax, etc....teams that historically give up points to dynamic RB's.

He will come through for you, it's just taking him longer to warm up than we thought it would.

In fact, for anyone who doesn't have Slaton, right now is a great time to start targeting him.

Jags, Seahawks, Rams is looking like a REALLY nice playoff schedule for the Texans.

Leagues that don't put players on waivers as soon as they play are super gay. It's all about who gets to their computer first. (I exploited this the most when our league still allowed it, but I still recognize how lame it is).

^^ I wouldnt say you are deep at RB. All three of those will split carries with other backs on a frequent basis. Keep MJD...he is your best RB and a 25-30 carry a game back. See what you can get with Sproles...he has value right now and could get you a decent WR.

If Schaub continues to play as well as he did against Tennessee then Slaton should start to see alot more running room and breaking 20+ yard runs. And as Panthro mentioned, the schedule is pretty favorable for Slaton for the next few weeks.

If anyone needs a RB threat see if Felix Jones (DAL) is available. Barber is reportedly out 2 weeks and the cowboys have good matchups coming up against poor run defenses.

how do you guys feel about dropping Faulk and getting Buckhalter? Buck might be in a time share, but the pats put in 5 different backs the last game.

Good idea. Faulk is the third (maybe even 4th) option in NE and Buckhalter has done well when he gets the chance. If its PPR Faulk has the better chance to catch passes.

I've got offers for Braylon E, or Santana Moss.

Are you wanting to trade a RB for WR?

who are your other RBs and how many can you play at once (i.e. flex position)? RBs are far more valuable than WR and 4 is a good number to have in case of injury or bad matchups. You can usually pick up a decent WR off waivers pretty easily (Manningham, Steve Smith, Crayton, Burleson, etc).

^^ The Redskins have been looking horrible. I'll be benching Moss if he doesn't produce this week at Detroit. I'd probably just take a WR off the waiver.

Flex Position, No-PPR, Pick 1

Thomas Jones - TEN
Mario Manningham - TB
Cedric Benson - PIT
Knowshon Moreno - OAK

I'm thinking Jones, but leaning towards Manningham.

Manningham.....Dallas receivers ran right through TB on short passes. Mario has the ability to break a long one off of a short pass and TB is an easy place to do that.

I think L. Washington will have more success in Tennessee than Jones.

Quote :
"The Bears would like to get Matt Forte and their running game going in Week 3 against Seattle, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun-Times.

The Bears have rushed for just 129 yards in their first two games in 2009, while stud feature back Matt Forte has accumulated only 84 yards on 38 carries, good for an anemic 2.2 yards per carry. Seattle has allowed 7.1 yards per carry so far this season, however, so this might finally be the week Forte lives up to his big '09 potential."

Should I trade Roy Williams for Thomas Jones straight up? I am deeper at receiver and am in dire need of another RB, particularly if Westbrook stays dinged up (I do have McCoy as insurance though).

My RBs are Westbrook, Moreno, Buckhalter, McCoy, Stewart

WRs are Fitzgerald, Roy Williams, Manningham, DeSean Jackson, Nate Washington, Johnny Knox.

I am a bit afraid of Leon Washington cutting into his carries, although almost everyone is RB by committee now anyway. I tried getting McGahee for Williams but they didn't bite.

Washington is gonna get more touches than he did last year (I think they said like 17 total a game including special teams) but Jones is still their #1 back and I'm personally not sold on Williams that much...he hasn't done a lot since leaving Detroit...obviously he has big upside but I don't think Dallas is going to do anything spectacular as long as Philips is their coach

[Edited on September 23, 2009 at 6:24 PM. Reason : 17 total, not 17 more]

Should I keep hoping for Brady to finally do something worthwhile, or replace him with Trent Edwards?

Who should I put as my other (2) running backs? Cedric Benson, Larry Johnson, LeDale White, Chris Wells, or Le'Ron McClain?

T Jones will get the red zone carrier to make it worthwhile. With that defense and rookie QB, ya gotta think they will be running both backs alot this year.

(pick2) decision:

Boldin v. Indy

OR

Berrian v. SF

OR

Cothcery v. Ten

PPR, If Welker doesn't play:

OR
