NC State beats Duke 42-21

NC State quickly jumps out to a 14-0 lead thanks to a strong start by Toney Baker. It looks like NC State might run away with it until Thaddeus Lewis drives his Dookies down the field capped off by an 11 yard TD pass to Ringfield. Jamelle Eugene fumbles away the ball in the red zone after stepping in for a dinged up Toney Baker, but Toney Baker returns from a bruised knee and breaks loose on a 61 yard rumble to put State back up by 2 touchdowns. Late in the second quarter, Thaddeus Lewis leaves the game with a forearm fracture, leaving the game in the hands of his backup Renfree, who drives the team himself for a score to make it a 21-14 game at halftime.

Despite his early success, Renfree and the Dookies could not sustain any successful offense in the second half, letting the Pack run away with it thanks to touchdown catches by Bowens and Baker in the Third Quarter sandwiching another Baker rushing TD. Jamelle Eugene put one more score on the scoreboard for the backups in the Fourth, after Duke scores their one and only rushing TD of the game with Boyette.

NC State picks up their first commitment of the week on the recruiting front, giving special teams a boost with the top punter in the state.

Also, I made sure I had all of the relevant ports open (which didn't initially work), then fully power-cycled my router for 15 minutes and reset XBox Live by manually setting the date back to 11/15/2005 to force everything to load fresh. Not sure what did the trick but that mechanism may be worth a try if anyone runs into a similar issue.

The rain was wreaking havoc out there. My 2nd pick thrown that set up the tying touchdown was thrown about six feet to the right of the intended receiver... nuts.

Also, Eric Berry fumbled a punt that directly led to my first TD and he was KNOCKED ON HIS ASS on a 45 yard run by my HB.

Awesome game though... wish I didn't give up that 70+ yard TD at the end of the first half. Also, you kicked my ass in the field position game.
