Will be interesting to see how this all plays out over the next few weeks and months. There has been very little reporting from inside Iran I could find— the internet is cut but you’d think some major news org could get something out

^ yeah social media is pretty bad now too. Hard to know what’s real. From the Iranians I could find on Instagram they’re all happy khamenie is dead and are hoping for the best on what comes next. The IRGC recently killed somewhere between 10,000-30,000 protestors so trump/netyahu are basically being given a wide berth on collateral damage from the diaspora. If what they’re saying represents the sentiment within the country it gives me hope they would be able to come together and build a new government

If our bombs kill more than the 30k of the IRGC though this sentiment could change really quickly…

I'm pretty sure this exact same quote was said about Iraq and Afghanistan.

I assume that, eventually, we'll cut our losses and not finish what we've started.

Yeah, "finish what we started" is meaningless. There are no clear objectives with this war. Even if there was, it's hard to believe we could accomplish them with air power alone.

I'm sure we'll hit the usual MAGA talking point of "why don't we take care of our veterans?!! + refugees from countries we bomb should be dumped in the ocean" circle again soon enough.

And the same stupid gas conversations we've been having since the fucking 20th midcentury.

THE LAST TIME GAS WAS UNDER A DOLLAR WAS MARCH 1999. IT'S BEEN OVER A QUARTER OF A CENTURY YOU CLODS.

China Tells Top Refiners to Halt Diesel and Gasoline Exports
By Alfred Cang
March 5, 2026 at 1:48 PM GMT +10:30
• China's government has told the country's largest oil refiners to suspend exports of diesel and gasoline due to an escalating conflict in the Persian Gulf.
• Refiners were asked to stop signing new contracts and to negotiate the cancellation of already-agreed shipments, with an exception made for certain fuels and supplies to Hong Kong and Macau.
• China's precautionary curbs reflect efforts to prioritize domestic needs as the crisis in the Middle East deepens, with the country still receiving close to half of its oil imports from the Gulf.

So I’m seeing several social media posts that that Iranian ship was part of joint exercises with India. We were invited to these exercises but did not accept the invitation. Also, these ships take part in these exercises without munitions….so we attacked an unarmed ship?

I real hope this isn’t true.

I expect more stuff like this soon. Now that Iran is hitting a lot of the arabs, trump prob gonna strong arm them and be like you better help me and make me look good etc etc. and they will. I still see this going well, cause trump will get the help he needs.

It’s not just Iranian assets these people want to suspend. Sounds like they want to pull investments from the US as well.

Kinda funny how furious gop was about Obama returning $1.7B to Iran that we owed them. And now we are spending a billion dollars a day to camp and bomb them.

Come on now. You don't really want a 50,000 drone to blow up a shopping mall do you? They have to use multiple-million dollar munitions just to be sure.

So the score so far…

Killing Khamenei/avenging Iranian protesters : Good
Disrupting Russia war supply chain: Good
Disrupting funding of anti-Israel forces: Good

Increasing global oil prices: Bad
Killing innocent Iranians: Bad
Enabling Regional Attacks: bad
Suggesting Americans are less safe: bad
Fiscal prudence/diplomatic credibility: bad

Disrupting Chinese oil supply: Good

Wasting munitions on an optional war: Bad

I feel like I’m more against this war than the typical lefties on this board.

^^i think i'm the only lefty on the board thats full steam ahead. I trust that trump wouldn't do this unless he knew it'd be relatively quick, etc. Seems like pretty soon Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran are no longer going to be so annoying all the time! Wouldn't have ever gotten results like this with Kamala!

LOL if you think we are going to "fix" anything.

We fixed Iraq so ISIS could run wild and behead people.

We fixed Afghanistan so the Taliban could take over within literally days of our leaving.

Yep, we won't be hearing from Venezuela, Iran, or Cuba again anytime soon!

Thank you, President Trump, for your steady leadership and your smart brain!
