I don't think I can come. Mom is making me go to the farm for the formal event after all.

Mom is literally making me go. Which is ridiculous because I'm an adult. But she decided to pay for my plane ticket because I tried to use the money excuse not to go. (My roomie announced she was moving to India, so I'm losing a roomie.)

Your parents have never been to visit you in FL in 3+ years of living there. I'll be damned if I'd let them dictate when I visit NC.

But that's just me.

Since mom wants to pay for the ticket (which I feel guilty letting her do), I can't really get out of it.

I know. And I really don't want to go to NC two months in a row. My schedule is a bit hectic right now and I could use some down time.

Well, I made the mistake of telling Dad back in December that I'd be at the event. After talking to him, Mom, Grandma and Issie, I think he would be upset if I didn't go.

I will try to make it. I wasn't anticipating having my roomie move out. Kind of hit my wallet just before the trip to Costa. :/

If I can get a roomie in, then I can prob justify flying there. But my travel sched is getting crazy and I'm getting overwhelmed.

I just found out yesterday that Mom is going to do whatever it takes to get me there for the party, which is why I'm just telling you now.

It's like they just want you at that event, and not that they want to see you. Because you'd be in town just as long for the June party as you would for the May event, and if they just wanted to visit with you, they could do it in June. What do they wanna do, show you off to the whole town of Warrenton?

Don't come to NC twice in 6 weeks, that's just nuts. You have a life in FL, and I understand that.

I think we'd really like to avoid having parents at this party. I just feel like, with a pig and a keg and a bunch of people, having parents there might make it weird for everyone else.

I guess we haven't officially decided yet.

Do you remember the party at your house where Clint's gf was showing off her boobs and Dad caught and eyeful?

Entertainment.

It may have also been the party where your mom had a crazyass pothead boyfriend.

^YES! On both accounts actually.

See, I know that your parents would come early in the day, hang out, and then leave by dusk - which is perfectly fine by me since things won't get crazy til nighttime anyways. However, my mom would show up early, drink half the keg, and attempt to drive herself home around midnight. And honestly, that's what I'm trying to avoid. My mom is a serious mooch.

Don't mind him, he's just a vagrant hitching a ride from town to town with no real place to live.

By choice, of course.

Or has he settled down back in Wilmington again?

Do you still have to put sunscreen on tattooed skin?

Lucy - You can do the half when I run the full at Thunder Road. At least that's what I'm planning on to help close out my 1,000 miles for the year.

^^ He lives in Nicaragua full-time with a host family

^ Yes, you still have to sunscreen tattooed skin. And the half would be perfect because I'm running my next full, The Melbourne Music & Beaches marathon, February 5, 2011, so that gives me a couple of months between the runs.

Is this your first full? Are you excited?

hey lucy, i'm making a turkey meatloaf for dinner tonight.

how do you think it would come out if i tossed a pound of chopped, cooked bacon into the loaf before baking?

turkey gets dry, so yes, add bacon

but if you want healthy, just add extra peppers and onions

I miss cooking.

I think it should be cooked with peppers and onions and served with a side of prosciutto-wrapped asparagus.

^ I love lamb. I wish it were cheaper. So delish. Would kill for some lamb carpaccio right now.

honestly, i usually grab 2lbs of meatloaf mix from HT and call it a day

turkey meatloaf is very dry, you gotta add nearly double the worcestershire sauce (or whatever else you use for liquid) and that just adds hella sodium

regardless of what meat i choose, i'm totally throwing chopped bacon in there
