Once it stops falling it should melt quickly if it's sticking to the road. The key is how quickly the precip ends before the temperatures go below freezing.

it is a back way from charlotte to raleigh that takes off about 30 miles and about 10 minutes from the drive (and isn't boring ol' 85/40). You end up driving through Troy/Uwharrie.
