DAMMIT! loving SC2, but i am plagued by sporadic crashes. The game will crash to a black screen, seemingly at random. Happens I'd say every one out of ten games. I've browsed several forums and noticed that a number of ATI users have this problem...anyone else yet?

I'd love to get this game working, if possible, but don't know shit about computers. I know this isn't tech talk, but if any of you out there have some insight on this feel free to PM me...i can send you my full specs, too.

My friend and my's 3v3 team went 4-1 in placement, losing only to triple Protoss zealot cheese.

Somehow that placed us into fucking silver. We played a couple games, got matched against a platinum team with a garbage strat and we thought they were complete n00bs so we played around with them. I went quick voids and was harassing with that, next thing I know I'm getting attacked by about 20 vikings and then BCs. So yeah, that one didn't end well, but we talked shit about their strat and got them to rematch. They were called us n00bs because they just beat us, but this time we weren't fucking around. I play the best game of my life as far as macro and mechanics go, chronoboosting everything for the first 10-12 minutes of the game, getting +3/+2/0 about as quickly as I can, and massing blink stalkers (I figured their 17 attack vs. armored would be better than trying to get enough phoenix carriers and voids)

and we whooped that platinum team the second time around.

my 8600gt used to crash me all the time. i swapped it for shrike's 7800gtx and have never had an issue since.

Just played 2 epic ladder 1v1s:

1 against a turtling protoss on the Xel'Naga themed map, I forget the name. I did my usual 1-1-1 opening, then I scanned him because I was concerned. I saw him building a cute, packed-in simcity complete with cannons. My early banshees weren't that effective, but I eventually try to contain him. I'm not that good with offensive tanks (yeah, turtling terran, I know), but I finally set up some kind of contain. He got like 4 or 5 DT drops in my base, which I eventually cut off, after losing lots of SCVs. I was feeling good about my contain, when I sent a few scouts out around the map. Turns out, during my slow siege, he'd expanded twice, walled in thick w/ cannons. I'm lucky I did, cuz he was gonna stomp me likely. I eventually won, but that was my first 50 min. TvP where P turtled as hard as I did.

2nd game was TvT on LT. I did the same 1-1-1, which I varied off into 2 factories for more tanks. Luckily, no reapers for him. He even had turrets all over his base, but I found a free zone and did Hold Position on a couple banshees. He was trying to siege from my natural, but I used one banshee to kill his tanks and he called gg.

Whew! Too nervous to play again for a while. Close games like those get me tense, now I need to unwind! Happy playing tonight my fellow SC-ers!

played a 2v2 with my friend on lost temple. PTvPT (I play P my platinum level friend plays T). Second scout shows a turtle from both teams. We both expanded and I spammed stalkers out of 7 gates. I push with about 10 +2/+1/+1 blink stalkers and stop the terrans natural expand. later, we had both watch towers and the Protoss moves maybe a 80 food army of stalkers and a couple collusi to the middle of the map, then back to one of their bases. My terran friend then double expands and I expand to their island expand, setting up a few cannons. Their terran player scouts it and loses like 3 vikes. I put my warp prism behind their gold expand which they haven't taken. They send a guy to take down the rocks, i warp in 4 stalkers (with blink and +3/+3/+2). The protoss player then calls gg, I push with like 30 stalkers and 6 high temps, take out most of his army and the terrans army, pulling back after a second, the protoss player GGs again and I told him it's BM to stay past when you've definitely lost and then both opposing players quit.

It's BM to: call "gg" for your opponent, leave w/o "gg", complain or use profanity in game. Most of that is for ladder. If you're playing w/ friends for fun, then obviously it doesn't matter that much

BK = Bad kid. It's not used quite as much in starcraft. It's pretty commonplace on XBL.

I early GG in custom games a lot for the lulz since they don't matter. In Nexus Wars I've called GG as early as 2 minutes into a game for the opponent. Then, as they make more n00b mistakes and continue to not push me back, I'll call it again.

I worked some immortal drops into my game today. Worked really well. My Phoenix micro is working well too. I'm not doing any earlier game phoenix play like I've seen HuK do, but I got a little bit of good graviton beams going on.

I knew what I had to do for awhile as zerg intellectually but I got fucking TROUNCED by someone who just wasn't good. Musta knocked something loose in my head because i'm finally playing how I know I should, and it feels amazing =)

So I have been trying out Husky's 4 WarpGateProtoss Rush on 1 vs 1, and I'm surprised by how effective it is, even against Terran. I just take one probe along with my initial army, head near their base, build a pylon (on high ground), and mass stalkers until I have an army of around 25-30. Then I make sure to get the blink upgrade beforehand, and then blink over the walls and micro the marauders. 60% of the time I win versus Terran and 80% versus Zerg and Toss. I'm still in Silver league though.

What is really disappointing is when you are involved in a game over an hour long and end up losing. The reason the game is so long is because they both played protoss and put up 2 solid walls of photon cannons around their entire base

Yeah I thought so too but they still had enough resources to build about 20 carriers each along with 2 motherships and a shitton of stalkers and collosi.. our problem was we didnt manage to scout all the carriers and didnt have enough to defend when they finally showed up. Thinking back what I should have done was build mass nukes and just walked around dropping them on all the cannons to try and punch a hole through or force them to spend more rebuilding all of those. Oh well this is why we are in bronze league haha

I am just not good at this game. My build order is alright but I get focused on where I want to get and I put on the horse blinders to get there.

My minerals are always way high. We kept getting overrun by 3v3 hard computer last night. The last game I had 3k minerals and my food was in the 80s when we died. And I play Zerg!

Minerals are the hard part of zerg macro, you'll always be gas starved. Just gotta keep up with the injects and mix in lings/roaches as mineral dumps + expand.

Well depending on your army composition you can throw down an extra hatch. Say if you are going muta/ling/bling on 2base you can support 3 hatch

When you have that much extra minerals with zerg really expand aggressively even if you can't defend all of them. If one dies not a big deal with that much minerals and with speed lings and expanding creep you can cover a lot of ground fast to help defend.

Also, I know you don't see anyone doing it(especially the better players that keep their larva up nonstop) go ahead and make a 3rd hatch right near one of the others and bounce your queen back and forth to get the larva you need to use up the money. Better off having the extra hatch and using up that 3,000 minerals than sitting on it(as said above).

When I draw Zerg I've been basically doing 15 pool/15 gas, get queen and speed upgrade and just make lings through your first set of larva. At that point you should have a good amount of lings with speed upgrade and enough money to expand. Vs. toss if you hit then you'll get there before they either get void rays or get their 4 gates going and speed lings tear it up. Vs. the other races just have to make the call if you want to hit or keep the lings for defense while you tech hydras or mutas. Maybe this is an obvious build, but just thought I'd throw it out there as I've been winning pretty consistently with it as zerg.

I was playing a 4v4 random with one of my buddies last night and we ran into some guys doing this. 2 Protoss guys must have spent.... 50K on cannons and then a ton of Carriers and Voids, one of his partners added siege tanks... Basically an epic turtle into carrier/void/thors, and even later in the game he added a mothership.

How'd we win? Lets see, the zerg player did nothing but spam lings and a few nidus worms. He quick double expanded including taking their gold. I 4 gated, saw they were turtling up, pulled off, and patrolled the naturals for a little and eventually went mass 3/3/3 blink stalkers + voids with a few chargelots mixed in. I ended up getting almost every upgrade except a few from the robo-bay and fleet beacon. I couldn't spend my money fast enough as I quickly got to max pop and there aren't many things that do well against max pop blink stalkers/voids. My friend did something similar to me, except I'm better at protoss than he is so I hit max pop before him, got my upgrades well before him, and was ahead of him most of the game, and instead of voids he went with more stalkers. (his terran is better than my protoss though, he's a borderline platinum/diamond player and I'm maybe gold level). Then the terran player on our team did well... a bunch of nothing. He made some useless thors, didn't ever successfully expand and just kinda sucked.

It's definitely worth it. I never get bored playing it, I usually just end up forcing myself to go to sleep because of work, lol. Soo addicted, and I'm not even that good yet.
