I can't believe the handful of people on page 20 who are forgiving Rick Perry for failing to recall what his heartfelt beliefs are. This guy is talking about willy nilly eliminating major government agencies, and he can't even name them--that is, cutting things he knows so little about that he can't actually remember their names or have them written down in front of him. That alone is a more epic display of incompetence than anything Bush ever did times 10. And it's not just incompetent, but it's a complete reveal of deception: Rick Perry isn't a bad speaker...he's a bad liar. The reason why all these ridiculous blunders are so horrible is because they totally show how little he believes or actually cares about the stuff that is coming out of his mouth. If only we could get a bad liar like Rick Perry who was actually smart and reasonable, we'd have ourselves a decent president.

Plus, are we all not on the same page about the fact that he was high as a kite in New Hampshire? How did he have the nerve to go back out in public after that?

Nice for Obama?

He's at least not a horrible embarrassment for republicans image-wise, but i don't see him beating OBama.

romney is far and away the frontrunner now.

I dont like Romney but he's the right selection. Even if he doesnt win the election he will draw enough support from moderates to ensure the republicans dominate the congress/senate elections which is what's really important.

Obama is too hated and neutered to accomplish any more destruction from this point forward anyway.

"romney is far and away the frontrunner now."

Here's what tdub had to say about Romney from a while back. I put together this collection on Romney quotes on 9/8/2010 over a year ago.

God:
Quote :
"Ahh, good old Mitt Romney, champion of the war against terror, and his 5 military-age kids who don't serve in the military."

JCASHFAN:
Quote :
"If Romney wins I'm voting 3rd party. Period."

IMStoned420:
Quote :
"The Daily Show had a scene where Romney got straight called out on an ad he ran that was completely false. He said he had never seen it. They then played the part where it said he approved that message.

Point? Basically he's the biggest toolbag ever."

JCASHFAN
Quote :
"Two white guys from Massachusetts would not make a broadly enough appealing ticket for a national race"

roddy
Quote :
"two white guys, one very rich one, typical face of the GOP....white male....."

lafta:
Quote :
"disagree, it think romney is by far the best
he is conservative but has done some things dems might like, like his healthcare plan

his problem is personality but if he's learned from last time he may be the next scott brown of the right"

timswar:
Quote :
"If Romney is their nominee it's going to be REALLY hard to for the Republicans to believably run on repealing HCR since Romney has instituted very similar laws in his state as governor."

eyedrb:
Quote :
"However, him putting in a similar plan in mass as O put in, doesnt give him any ground to attack O on healthcare. imo

I bet the repubs will find a fiscal conservative with business experience to run by 2012. Its still a long ways out. They need to find a candidate that the teaparty people will support. "

DalCowboys:
Quote :
"This is a real downfall for Romney and if he doesn't admit that the plan was a failure, I don't know how the GOP can fully support him since defeating Obamacare is the primary objective for the Republican party right now...."

eyedrb
Quote :
"Exactly. If he stands a chance, he needs to do the opposite of what he is doing. He is trying to say his plan is SO much different than the presidents, but it really isnt. So you are just talking out of your ass when you attack O while pimping yourself for passing Masscare."

stillrolling:
Quote :
"From what I've seen beginning with last election I would equate Romney's campaign team to Tiger Woods' PR people."

PinkandBlack:
Quote :
"he basically did all but admit he switched position on everything from gay marriage to immigration to health care for the purpose of getting the nomination last time, and then he proceeded to buy his way to a few delegates. surely this is the future."

moron:
Quote :
"Romney couldn't beat Obama"

xvang:
Quote :
"As I remember, Romney wasn't good enough for the white evangelical christian right... he had to make several speeches about his Mormon background. As far as I know, the evangelical right is STILL the bible bangin' evangelical right... and distancing themselves further and further from the base."

ibnuts:
Quote :
"Sad that the Republicans' best hope is a Mormon (I don't care, but it's a big deal to a lot of people)."

Yes, with the 90 seconds he was given to speak during the whole debate. What a complete and utter joke. Wake up already, people. Information is being suppressed by the media. That's incontrovertible at this point.

The media does not want a real discussion on foreign policy or anything else. They want slight variations on one general position - that the U.S. military should be doing roughly what it's doing now. Any position other than that is marginalized. Obama is a neo-conservative.

Yes, it's scary to admit that we've be doing the wrong thing for a century and we need to reverse course, but it is necessary.

gotta run ron paul but the republicans just cant step into the next century they are too preoccupied with trying to start wars and re-institute slavery.

If you can't defeat a political party that is actively trying to bring the country to its knees, perhaps you need to reform your own party Republicans.

Tea Party needs to take over from the inside. Complete the coup, otherwise its all over.

This year, we have no less than four God-called GOP candidates for president, former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-MN), Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX), (Mrs. Perry agrees) and now Herman Cain. So far.

So in aggregate, the GOP candidate's proposals to fix the country/economy are:

-repeal every law Obama passed
-restart the Iraq war
-detain and torture more people
-get rid gays,immigrants, and muslims

Did I miss anything?

the problem in the GOP is you have to keep rich white people happy or you have know campaign money.

Its why all of the intelligent candidates are behind morons.

Newt is a really smart guy with a lot of great ideas. Unfortunately, the independents don't like him so he's pretty unelectable.

You don't win elections by telling the truth. You win by outright lying at all costs and then you go make insider trades to get rich. Great to see CBS shed some light on that nonsense it's always disgusted me how the market moves so wildly right before a big government announcement. And always the correct direction!

I thought Pelosi was going to have a stroke she was so flustered when he called her out for her insider trading. Her damn husband is a hedge fund manager for god's sake.

gingrich is extremely intelligent- to claim he is not is absurd.

furthermore, the skeletons in his closet were exposed and flogged long ago.

the "theres nothing to see here!" effect.

lets see how long it is before a disgruntled dairy queen worker alleges he stole "an inordinate amount of ketchup packets considering he only ordered one small onion ring in the summer of 2003" and tanks his whole candidacy.

He's a politician. When it comes down to it, he will bend to the will of political pressure, rather than doing what's right.

He also stated, in a public debate, that we should covertly assassinate Iranian scientists. That's idiotic on so many levels.

Newt is surging like a motherfucker.

If he's the nominee he'll mop the floor with Obama, mostly on the strength of his immense popularity with the soccer moms. Newt just oozes sex appeal, and that'll be the deciding factor.

I will give him kudos for hanging in it for so long even after much of his campaign staff quit because he wasn't taking things seriously, not implementing enough of a ground game, and focusing on Mediterranean cruises which weren't helping with his too elite/disconnected image with the massive jewelry bills.

It seems people are still shopping for the non-Romney. I bet Tpaw is kicking himself for dropping out so early now that all this flailing around giving anyone a try is going on. Even so, the final primary pick will probably be Romney.

Insider trading being legal for congress/senate is not "just coming out".

That's been news for years. It's just that Americans are too stupid to care.

They get their news from propaganda artists who are bought and paid for by the parties. Ever wonder who these people are who come on news shows to tell you who won the debate and what issues really matter? Bought and paid for by the think tanks.

"Delicioso," Cain repeated, while still chewing. "Delicioso."

The exchange was caught on a Fox News camera."

I mean he's joking right?

"Cain has repeatedly been criticized over his approach to foreign policy. On Monday he made headlines when he stumbled through his thoughts on Obama's actions in Libya, seeming to not understand U.S. involvement in a situation that's been in the international spotlight for much of the year.

He also raised eyebrows when he indicated last month in an interview that he was unaware China had nuclear capability, yet the country conducted its first nuclear weapon test back in 1964."
