There's almost no way Wilson plays football this fall. If he does, it'll likely be in breach of his multi-million dollar baseball contract. And as much as I love RW (a whole whole lot), there's no way he steps in at a BCS school a week before kickoff and does anything but fail hard. TOB wins, you lose.

the article says that he wants to step away from baseball in June to start practicing for football. I wonder if this was stated during his talks with NCSU and TOB. I would assume that there is a way for him to do this and not breach his contract or he is not very smart....

As of like two weeks ago, no one in the Rockies farm system (I think the farm director was quoted) had heard anything from Russell about wanting to play football. There's no way they're going to let a guy they've invested a lot of money in walk away halfway through the season and risk serious injury. His options -- unless someone isn't being truthful -- are 1. Forget football and honor his contract 2. Walk away from baseball for the next several years, forfeit the remainder of his contract, pay back a lot of his signing bonus, get butt raped by SEC defenses and play back-up in the CFL for a fraction of what he would have made in the Rockies organization.
