Haslem will probably not even get a game. No worries about missing time against Boston.

i'd like to see Pittman and Stephenson get into a massive fight in game 6, that involved no other players

wouldn't affect either team's chances at winning the game or a future series since they're both scrubs, but it would be entertaining

I feel like the media needs to get over what Lebron "did" to Cleveland and just judge him off of his on the court performance, which has been stellar this year.

i mean, according to Lebron, they were gonna win at least 8 titles

it makes sense to hate on them a bit when they get down 2-1 to Indiana in the 2nd round

how can you hate on these guys!!1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9BqUBYaHlM#t=210s

i have lots of issues with that analogy

for example, did CJW singlehandedly lead his former team to the Final Four, then quit on them, and transfer to another team and guarantee multiple championships?

Enjoyed the interview with Iverson. What a gracious and appreciative guy. I know he made some mistakes along the way (especially with the bowling alley brawl), but I respect how he grew up, matured, yet never strayed from himself. Never really liked the sixers (even when I lived in Philly), but I definitely respect Iverson and wish him the best.

"Here are my picks

Spurs in 4. The Clippers could MAYBE win a game if Del Negro wasn't so scared to play Deandre Jordan. This is about as lopsided as it gets for a 2nd round matchup. Clippers looked terrible in round 1. Too many scrubs in their rotation and TWO in their starting lineup (Butler + any SG they decide to use). Plus Paul and Griffin don't appear to be healthy. Hopefully, Popp defines his real rotation in this series so we can get a better gauge on them for the WCF and potentially the Finals.

OKC in 5. Series will be fun to watch but ultimately Lakers can't match up with Thunder. The Lakers strengths are interior defense but the Thunder don't care because they don't score inside with bigs anyway. The Lakers can't guard quickness so Harden/Westbrook will have a field day. The only concern is Durant after Artest made him look terrible two years ago. Well, if the Thunder try to play an injured Perkins that's a concern too. Just take that horse to the glue factory.

Bos in 7. (bos up 1-0 right now, but i already made this pick a few days ago) Close series. Philly is terrific in transition and Boston is a halfcourt team. Turnovers are a huge key. Boston is really banged up with Allen & Pierce a threat to go down at any minute and Stiemsma barely able to go at all. Always tough to pick against the Celtics though and Doug Collins seems hell bent on letting the 76ers get dragged down by Louis Williams again.

Miami in 5. This series is closer than people give it credit for being, especially because Indiana has a balanced roster and Miami thrives more against shutting down 1-2 guys instead of an entire team. One thing we know about the Pacers is that you NEVER, EVER want to trust Danny Granger he is the biggest piece of Pyrite the NBA has seen in years. Hibbert developed into a stud this year though and you can never count out Ole Treetop. Paul George has a chance to get on the national radar if he can outplay D-Wade, he is nearly on his level already."

Boston is not good. I even overcompensated on that by picking Atlanta to beat them in 7. This series couldn't be more pointless.

The Staples center mess made all the difference in the other three series.

James was gassed and Miami was in ruins after game three to the point where they couldn't even practice with each other. Without the extra day off to regroup the deep Indy team wins game 4 hands down. Miami rarely loses on 3 days of rest. That kind of took the playoff character out of this series benefiting the team with less balance. If Indy goes up 3-1 there the series is virtually over.

The Lakers had the recipe in game 3 but playing game 4 in less than 24 hours gave them no chance against a much younger, deeper team. The lakers were already gasping for air after playing 3 games of the series at high altitude against another run run run team and having 1 days rest before game 1. They dominated the game until fatigue set in with 8 minutes to go.

The clippers were due to get swept but playing game 4 the next day sealed the deal. They came up just short and who knows if a day of rest for banged up stars could have translated to 4 points against the deepest team left.

Rest doesn't affect deep teams and helps the shallow teams tremendously. It would be nice if every series followed the every other day mode but I guess TNT rather not sacrifice prime time ratings by doing a triple header to accommodate the staples center disaster.

[Edited on May 24, 2012 at 8:16 AM. Reason : Pretty much a shame that one series takes an extra day off while others skip days off completely]

[Edited on May 24, 2012 at 8:18 AM. Reason : If you need stats to beleive this post, look at each team's record on 0,1 and 2 days rest.]

Ive never seen one person make so many excuses in my life.

According to you the Bobcats were probably title contenders but the condensed regular season schedule killed their chances.

actually the Bobcats would've been title contenders this year

if the Magic had drafted Okafor, we had ended up with CP3 the next year, held on to G-Force, etc

You guys are so caught up in your lives of vegas, internet message boards and stat sheets and are completely out of touch with the game of basketball.

So much that my last post about days off that is based of what seems to me like basketball common knowledge comes off as an absurd list of "excuses"

I have no reason to make excuses for teams as I am a fan of no nba team. I'm simply a fan of the game and a fan of parity as that is healthy for the game. Thats the only reason I dislike the Heat. My dislike for the Heat obviously pisses off some of the casual fans in the same way a fan of music disliking Katy Perry would incite rage amongst the pop music world. Some people are even pissed off because they believe I am somebody that they used to know.

I have no claim or desire to accurately predict the outcome of sports championships. There are way too many unpredictable variables like injuries and emotions that make it nothing more than a game. I'm not saying certain people can't become good at the game either because people are excellent at poker even. My 9 year old little sister could give face a run for his money though. Three time defending bracket pool champ right there. Maybe they do have it down to a science. Not gonna lie, predicting Rose and Noah to injure themselves was very impressive but that isn't basketball analysis.

I came to talk basketball analysis and some of you see this as a basketball gambling thread.

The Braves might have won the World Series last year if there were 4 outs in the 8th inning.

And the thing I'm "caught up in" is knowing what the hell I'm talking about.

Something you should look into before you start forcing your "analysis" on other people.

You still don't see the difference between knowing what you are talking about and choosing the correct outcome.
Quote :

The key to this is how many outs were there SUPPOSED to be in the 8th inning? If everyone expected 3 and it was changed to four at the last minute, you didn't "know what your were talking about" by picking the Braves. Unless of course you thought there would be 4 outs all along but that would be precognition because it defies baseball logic.

Choosing the correct outcome has nothing to do with knowing what I'm talking about?

Damn, you wouldn't make it very far in the real world. Stick to your virtual world.

Do you realize that if you can predict the correct outcome of 53% sports games that you could never work another day in your life?

Do you realize that if you discover the intrinsic value of an asset before anyone else does that you could be a millionaire overnight? Or that if you start with a few million, a billionaire?

Pursuit of excellence is not for everyone. Stick to being a lab rat if you want, but I'm trying to get things right over here.

In my world Vegas doesn't give you your money back because you complain that the schedule wasn't fair. Forex doesn't return your principal because you didn't know the Euro was about to collapse.

First things first, Indiana's substitution pattern is retarded. This isn't the first time they have blown a lead by benching their entire front line for several minutes at a time.

So you're a billionaire? Cool.

I don't believe in gambling. I believe in making an honest analysis and an honest living. To each his own. I'm aware there are a rare people out there who have a gift that allows them to make a lot of money gambling but its not for the pure sports fan.

Gambling is not pursuit of excellence. It doesn't make the world a better place. Could you clarify what you mean by "lab rat"
