I think Flordia State's run ends in the ACC conference to Georgia Tech, LOL. Winston is not the same this year, it could be personal problems, I dunno but they haven't really faced a high powered offense this year which GT is.

These Oregon uniforms are a thing of beauty.

Looks like all the other good teams will lose and fsu will be in the playoffs with a bunch of scrubs who they can spot 20 and still beat.
11/29/2014 10:15:59 PM
What does auburn have left to poison? Did they plant new trees yet?
11/29/2014 10:36:05 PM
so for fun...what if FSU loses to GT and Auburn beats Bama?then who's the 4? Oregon, Ohio St, TCU, Baylor? Or does a 1 loss FSU stay in? Seems like it would be punishing FSU for losing later in the season...when they're resume isn't any worse than those other teams.

Amari Cooper should finish second in Heisman votes.

Really enjoying watching finenaum film room live analysis of the iron bowl on sec network. Its almost like inside the nba during the game. I wish they did this for acc basketball. Hope it catches on.

no kidding
11/30/2014 10:21:22 PM
that's some pretty crazy news. can't say I've ever heard of a legit university shutting down a revenue sport (maybe that's the problem -- there was no revenue)
11/30/2014 10:25:51 PM
^ Boston University football (I-AA) and University of the Pacific football (I-A) are a couple of the most recentThe current arms race going on in college sports is going to have quite a few fatalities from universities that can't afford the asking rate and don't see the worth in going down a level. Everyone wants to be a have, and if you can't be a have, some are going to say "why bother?"Some of Alabama-Birmingham's problem is they're ran by the same Board as Alabama-Tuscaloosa and a few Board members think 100% of the money should be at Tuscaloosa. Remember one offseason a few years ago where a contract was declined by the Board that was offered to a coach because it was something like $600k/year and the Board thought it was too much money to pay a football coach. A month or so later Nick Saban got his monster deal. Yes, Bama is a bigger deal than UAB, but it's still hypocritical.[Edited on November 30, 2014 at 10:38 PM. Reason : .]
11/30/2014 10:31:41 PM
I currently live in Alabama and have been here 2 and a half years. I can tell you there is some shady shit going on here. Almost all the board and current governor Bentley are UA-T alums. There has always been bad blood between the two. UAB and Bama have been at it for a while. Gene Bartow was a longtime UAB basketball coach and accused Bama of widespread cheating (Which to my knowledge is very true) and Bear Bryant and his son wanted to shut down their programs. The University of Alabama controls UA-T (Alabama), UAB, and UA-Huntsville. Auburn, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, North Alabama, West Alabama are not under them. The board is Tuscaloosa everything. Rumor was UAB was going to hire Jimbo Fisher in 2006 and the Tuscaloosa board blocked it. http://www.nytimes.com/1993/08/05/sports/sports-people-basketball-bartow-accused-alabama-in-1991-letter.htmlhttp://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/writer/jon-solomon/24806444/is-the-alabama-board-of-trustees-finally-ready-to-kill-uab-football

^ The Alabama Mafia being mafioso.
11/30/2014 10:48:10 PM
Will be interesting to see how the committee handles mizzou beating Alabama if that were to happen. Do they just leave out the "best conference" or do they say the SEC champ has to go and put mizzou in when no one has talked about them at all this season haha.
12/1/2014 8:41:00 AM
they'd just put alabama in anyway, probably.
12/1/2014 8:42:53 AM
so this ohio state kid was killed by the mob for not fixing games, right? no one believes that he climbed into a dumpster and shot himself, right?
12/1/2014 10:00:57 AM
^^i think it'd be really hard to put in a 2 loss Bama team when there would be (assuming no other upsets): Oregon, FSU, Ohio St, TCU, Baylor with 1 loss or in, FSU's case, undefeated.A more interesting scenario, to me, would be if FSU loses to GT and Bama loses to Mizzou, does Bama 2 loss get the nod over 1 loss FSU? Or do both miss it and Oregon, TCU, Baylor, Ohio St are the 4?
12/1/2014 10:06:07 AM
dont even speculate at no SEC teams in the final 4. espn/tv contracts wouldn't allow it. and cunnalingis rice would be given big $$$ under the table by SEC to ensure this.
12/1/2014 12:31:51 PM
So if UAB stops the football program...think they have any guys worth trying to bring to our team?
12/1/2014 2:33:22 PM
Ole miss have the most impressive wins if thats worth anything. All proof it needs to be 8 or 12
12/1/2014 5:30:31 PM
Fucking bullshit. These voters are shady as hell. Are they trying to motivate fsu?
12/2/2014 7:09:59 PM
I'm going to laugh if FSU creams GT this week and still has 3 one loss teams ahead of them. I just hope OSU doesn't find a way to sneak in
12/2/2014 7:13:05 PM
This system has to go. Just let computers do it.
12/2/2014 7:14:30 PM
Style points and margin of victory should never be more valuable than winning. Tcu at 3 makes 0 sense.
12/2/2014 7:17:03 PM
FSU at 4 oh my god this is dumb. And Baylor has pretty big reason to be pissed off. Now, if they beat KState next week, and don't get in they'll really be up in arms.
12/2/2014 7:22:39 PM
FSU keeps winning and then drops? LOL
12/2/2014 11:17:34 PM
I mean there are only two possible conclusions to take away from this weeks rankings.1. If Miss State had beaten Ole Miss then FSU would now be 5 and not even in.2. If they claim otherwise then they are admitting they are just randomly deciding each week, most likely to generate controversy, with no regard to logic and will just claim in the last week that now everyones full resume is in so now we can mix everyone back up however we want.
12/3/2014 9:02:19 AM
you think it's any different than #2?these people aren't doing this for free...this is BIG TIME money they are controlling.Controversy generates media, media generates controversy...and both make money. It's all about the Benjamins baby.FSU that low is a joke though
12/3/2014 9:07:15 AM
12/3/2014 9:08:37 AM
its pretty obvious that they want to pair up Alabama and FSU in the semifinals, in the Sugar Bowl, in New Orleans. Hell, Allstate probably has blank checks written for all of the committee members to make sure this happens.I never thought I would say this, but they need to bring back the computers, these "experts" are a joke
12/3/2014 9:12:55 AM
Can't we just expand to an 8 team playoff w/ P5 champ auto bids and be done with it?[Edited on December 3, 2014 at 9:17 AM. Reason : ]
12/3/2014 9:17:42 AM
^^ Yep. They want Bama in the Sugar and Oregon in Pasadena. I really hope Mizzou or Zona can pull off a miracle and burst that bubble.
12/3/2014 10:40:16 AM
i'm rooting for chaos at this point just to see how fucked up the committee can make it. Bama losing, FSU losing, Ohio State losing, Oregon losing, Baylor losing. No way TCU loses to Iowa State though.Obviously all those teams won't lose, but there are some tough match ups this week where a couple of the top 5 teams could lose.Anyway a Baylor win over KState vaults Baylor in even with TCU winning vs Iowa St? I can't see that happening unless TCU plays a really close game with Iowa St or something. [Edited on December 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Reason : d]
12/3/2014 10:59:21 AM
I guess I get your point, since the committee will have to justify dropping TCU two spots after a win (assuming a Baylor and FSU win), but after this week Baylor and TCU will have 9 common opponents and a head to head matchup in which Baylor won. I don't understand how Baylor is ranked lower than TCU if they beat K State this weekend[Edited on December 3, 2014 at 11:26 AM. Reason : .]
12/3/2014 11:25:57 AM
^Oh I agree. I think if Baylor wins, they should be ranked ahead of TCU. I just mean that I don't see the committee actually doing that. The committee watches way more football than I do, but it almost seems like they're overthinking this...or intentionally trying to be different than what the computers might have generated in the past. Like they're looking for a reason not to rank FSU #1. And I get that FSU has shown flaws and weaknesses. But 4th?!? That's absurd.
12/3/2014 11:32:21 AM
I mean its all setup to avoid most scenarios that throw a wrench into it. Any team that loses is obviously fucked. If FSU and TCU and Baylor win they can claim well FSU beat a 11th ranked GT team (which is ridiculous btw) and Baylor beat K State so obvioulsy FSU is better than TCU now and Baylor beat them head to head so now TCU goes to 5. The only real scenario they dont want is mizzou beating alabama that would cause the most problems for them.
12/3/2014 11:42:11 AM
You think GT at 11 is ridiculous? The losses to Duke and UNC aren't good losses (mostly just UNC) but they've beaten Clemson and UGa. I'm not sure who you'd rank ahead of them...maybe Wisconsin?
12/3/2014 1:05:57 PM
Eh I guess you make a good point it was more the thought of the winner of the coastal (who needed help from UNC) being the 11th best team in the country.
12/3/2014 1:11:20 PM
Yeah GT actually came on fairly strong at the end of the season. I think they're a better than people give them credit for. But those losses to UNC and Duke really don't look good. What's kinda crazy is if they had beaten UNC and their only loss was to Duke, they could be a few breaks away from being in the playoff.
12/3/2014 1:13:38 PM
Yeah I think if FSU has the same fuck ups they have had against other teams the past like 5 weeks or whatever that GT will actually punish them and win.
12/3/2014 1:27:58 PM
yeah I wouldn't be too surprised to see GT win this one (then again, almost nothing FSU does would surprise me). even though they've struggled defensively, their offense can be extremely efficient. it'll be an interesting game.
12/3/2014 1:33:58 PM
No Carousel thread for this year?I'm hearing a lot of "Muschamp to State as DC" talk around my office today. I'm the only one in the office today so I question the source.
