I want to voice my opinion about Ms. Jenner. She is a transwoman. I accept that. I'm ok with it. If that is what makes her feel best then that is what she should do.

However, I do not feel that she should be a spokesperson for women. She has only been a woman for a year. She has had to go through very little that women go through their entire lives. She has had to go through very little that transwomen who transition early in their lives go through. She has said the hardest thing about being a woman is finding something to wear.

That is not the hardest thing about being a woman. That is no where near the top of the list about the hardest thing about being a woman.
Looking past the fact that she will never suffer the biological aspect of being a woman. She has never gone through what women every day go through.

I am not against a transwoman speaking out on women's issues, but a transwoman who has the nerve to say that the hardest thing about being a woman is finding something to wear should not be a role model to anyone.

Aside from that, I wouldn't even think she is a good role model to transpeople. She has had everything laid out for her. Her transition was pretty much flawless. She didn't even have to suffer what most people who are trans go through.

A handicapped person may not want to be called a cripple, but it is what it is. Pressuring the APA to call it something different doesn't mean reality is any different.

Just like calling Bruce a woman doesn't mean his actual biology has changed.

In fact acknowledging it is a disorder may be more beneficial to trans people, as they could have insurance help them with surgery.

What is mind blowing is that the NC GOP controlled legislature is up in arms and even the governor is declaring that the state is going to overturn the law. Is there nothing fucking better for the peeps back in Raleigh to do in the assembly building then fret about gender queers going to the wrong bathroom.

Not like there is 1000 other more pressing issues ranging from the economy to mercury in creeks thanks to Duke energy.

^^ I actually agree with you on all that. Though it is something I feel is in Charlotte's rights as a city to make a decision regarding public venues. Just like it is you right to choose not to visit Charlotte restaurants if you are scared of the she-male in the bathroom. I think this is a conservative idea with the whole separation of powers versus having the federal government force these sort of regulations. I'm just shocked at all the "outrage" from the NC assembly.

I I only draw the hard line with schools. Except for a few legit cases of ambiguous gender due to a medical disorder, the whole idea that 7 yr old boy identifies as a girl is crap.

I haven't seen the full language in the articles I have looked at so I'm not sure how the rules work. If someone has a good source for that please share.

Are there controls around how one identifies their gender? Can a person just identify when it is convenient?

If I'm out and have to drop a deuce can I "identify" as a female and use the cleaner toilets? Or if the men's bathroom is full?

Does this just apply to traditional bathrooms and not locker rooms?
If it does apply to locker rooms, could a male "identify" as a female and just hangout in the showers?
