Yeah the kid went from 5'10" to 6'5" in a year, his wingspan looks insane. The kid is 100% going to need to redshirt and put on some good weight, but this is one of those late-bloomers that has a ton of upside.

I think our S&C program(Thunder Dan!) and our DL coach(Nielsen) have proven they can get it done. I'm fine with taking a flyer on a guy like this with good upside.

^More info on him. He was being heralded as a major recruit heading into his Junior season, being considered a likely 4*. Tore his ACL and cost him his entire Jr season. He obviously fell off from recruiting at that point waiting to see how he responded. He apparently had a terrific senior season and put out some nice highlight film late. Seems like he started getting more offers/interest in the last week or two, so I think he was starting to build steam.

Almost reminds me of the Meyers situation where he was a 2* that didn't get his film out super early and once teams found out about him he started getting offers really late from SEC schools.

I can't imagine DD going to that one, seemed like everyone online knew he was going to ECU with his family connections.

Joyner is supposedly a silent to South Carolina and Mayden(4*) is visiting later this month. I imagine the staff goes all-in on Mayden and has Person attend for his visit as they're supposedly really good friends(he's recruiting him for us). Mayden and Joyner are both dual-threat guys with plenty of upside, though it should be noted a lot of schools want Joyner as an ATH and not at QB, but the fact that Louisville wants him at QB is promising.

3* Darius Hodge will NOT qualify. Apparently he's deciding between going to Marshall immediately or going JUCO for a year or two to qualify.

Not sure the coaches had Ahlers #1 on their QB wishlist but he was the first one deciding and willing to take his commitment. Seems like if any of Ahlers, Joyner, and Mayden wanted to commit they'd take it. Mayden has to be a top priority for the staff now, so I imagine you'll see the full-court press on his visit. Would love to have a 4* QB, 4* ATH(WR) and All-American K to start our 2018 class.

I've never seen Doeren attend an announcement like this in the past, I don't anticipate this was going to be his first one.

I'm fine with missing if we put the full-court press on Mayden and land him. I actually think Ahlers fits our offense better than ECUs, but that system just churns out stats.

I actually think McKay and Meyers have a lot of upside, though I fully expect Finley/McClendon to start/play the next 2 seasons barring injury. After a RS year for McKay, would give him 3 years potentially to start if he won the job, but we have to bring in another QB as it looks like Meyers might stick at WR and none of the buzz about Parham has suggested he'll ever be our starting QB. I recall his HS stats being quite awful in terms of passing but hoped he just had an awful team and he was forced to run a lot.
