I reckon we could be a bunch of sad bastards, but that doesn't seem like much fun.

Maybe we should do like you guys and pick back-up teams.

I like how y'all claim moral victory when we lose a close game, but when we win a close game against an inferior opponent then it's "a win is a win"...that way you can deflect as much responsibility away from the coach as possible

You guys are taking the "a win is win" comment completely out of context.

That shit tonight was terrible. Read the conversation. I'm the one the saying we need to actually watch what's happening on the court, not just the box score. Other dude is harping on the bottom line is all that matters.

Figures that you're all slow as fuck.

Sid finally figured out a way to get Scott Wood to make a 2 point basket that wasn't a long jumper or a fast break lay up/dunk. Hell, he even got him to work through his allergy to rebounds. This game was a success!

Tracy needs to man up. He may have already screwed our NCAA chances. Play through the perceived pain. He wants to be in the NBA? The NBA season is a lot more demanding, and if you can't play in pain, you will find yourself out of the league.

Harrow being the worst shooter in the ACC is very surprising to me. I didn't think he'd be much more than a 30% shooter from 3 as a freshman but his terrible shooting to date was unexpected

yea he's actually a really good point guard and you see some semblance of an offense being run when he isn't chucking

if he can figure out how to score efficiently he might be even better than expected

Tracy taking himself out causes a chain reaction of lack of effort. The young guys look at the old guys to set the tone. If the old guy is sitting out even though he is medically cleared, that sets a tone.

It's like the opposite of when Rivers played with a torn ACL. You earn respect and influence others by taking on shit that others would not want to take on.

i think he can score effeciently, he just needs to stop shooting until he gets some confidence. assist or drive/teardrop or fastbreak dunk/layup.

[Edited on December 22, 2010 at 9:23 PM. Reason : ^ you have no idea what's going on with tracy's injury. your ranting is quite ridiculous.]

^^I agree in a sense, but you also don't want to rush someone back from injury. Rivers played a playoff game with a torn ACL. You think he would've played a Week 4 game with that same injury?

ie, if the ACC tournament started tomorrow, I think Tracy would play

i completely agree with that but tracy is going to suck when he comes back and would suck even more if he played now

howell could probably play on a messed up knee and not lose a whole lot of his game but tracy relies a lot on explosiveness and movement in the post

i actually didnt watch any of this game besides the last 2 minutes (I went out b/c I figured there wasn't any point to watching tonight - oops) but I'm guessing we went up by ~10 and got complacent like we usually do against these type of teams?

a lot of his "creative" shots have rimmed out on him despite not being bad shots. this coupled with him adjusting to more athletic and bigger players on his more normal drives have knocked down his shooting % to an exaggeratedly low number

but the 3 point shooting problem is very real. he's not even close most of the time

Scott Wood had some issues in the early going last year as well. I imagine Harrow is going to take some time to adjust his shot while going through a serious weight training plan.

i'm fine with that, as long as he's getting it on the rim for a potential putback from howell/leslie/smith. but for now, he doesn't need to be taking many outside shots, he just doesn't seem ready. drive and dish or teardrop/easy layup.

Ernie, I think you're trying to troll me with this statement, but you're absolutely right. I don't care if we beat Duke by 2 or if we beat UNCG by 2, a win is a win. That doesn't mean we can't talk about the areas where the team needs improvement or didn't play particularly well in that game. I am happy with the win, I was there, I have a few thoughts about it.

1. Painter/Howell have made progress at the post positions since the last game. They went up stronger and finished better, but still missed too many layups/close shots.

2. Our offense seemed, to me, to be flat footed for less of the game. I saw our offense at least trying to make things happen, even if the possession sometimes ended in a turnover because of overly flashy play.

3. All of you harping on Scott Wood are idiots, he got more open looks this game than he probably has all season (listen to the commentary from the coaches/sports network after the game). He mentioned in his post game interview that, because of all the fouls, he had trouble getting into the rhythm of the game, and that caused him to have some trouble finding his shot. On plus sides, I saw him driving to the basket a little more today, and he did make the game winning basket, so there's that.

4. Lowe seems to really see and understand what's happening on the court. I've done more listening to him over the last couple days (I've wanted to, and just happened to have the opportunity) and he really offers some good insight (not of the outside sales variety).

5. Our team showed improvement on the boards. We out-rebounded Delaware St more definitively (at least in the first half than) I have noticed us do against a team al year (I haven't seen every game though, so give me some slack if I'm wrong). I really liked the effort we were getting under the boards.

6. Our push down the court doesn't seem as fast as it needs to be to live up to Lowe's push style game plan. We'd have opportunities for fast breaks on several occasions or have a couple players beat and instead of pushing and finishing we'd slow it down and pull it out. Hopefully some playing time together will begin to make them more aware of that game.

7. The student section fuckin sucks. They were totally quiet for the first 3/4 of that game. It was infuriating.

DISCLAIMER: I think that people who demand results and what people to succeed or GTFO have a decent reason to be upset with Lowe's performance over four years. However, he is pulling in great talent, and I like where this team could possibly go if he can pull it together. I am on board with keeping him for awhile longer, it's not like I haven't suffered through NCSU suckage for most of my life.

Just my .00000002 millions worth.
