Well I guess there's my answer. Still too big though. It's as big as a galaxy note. That's over the top for me.

Is there anyplace in Raleigh which still sells cases for the Droid Maxx? (Not Razr Maxx.) I really need to get one today. 4/30/2014 11:03:42 AM |

You can buy them at someplace like the Verizon store if you have to have one today, even though you can find them for much cheaper online 4/30/2014 11:31:14 AM |

Wow. Just... wow. Going from Droid 4 to Droid MAXX is like going from a farm tractor to a new Corvette. I still cannot get over the battery life on this phone. I'm almost at 48 hours of complete abuse through migrating files, installing apps, pushing updates, etc., and I'm still at 20% power. Unbelievable.
I still miss the "real" keyboard though... Oh well, I guess it's time to grow up and join the rest of the world. 5/2/2014 9:39:06 PM |

Can Nine do multiple email accounts? It couldn't automatically get server info for either of my exchange accounts, I'm sure I can figure it out but it might not be worth the hastle if only supports a single account. 5/5/2014 6:32:23 AM |

It's my understanding that it DOES support multiple accounts, but I don't have two Exchange accounts to test with.
Here's list of supported services (note, not Gmail proper, or Yahoo, just ActiveSync services):
Quote : | "Exchange Server 2003 SP2/SP3 and above Office 365 Hotmail Outlook.com Gmail (Google Apps account only) Other servers supported Exchange ActiveSync" |
I just found them a couple months ago, they are new, but developing new features quickly and responding to customer feedback through Play Store.
Here's a good (albeit out-of-date) article showcasing some of the main features: http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/02/12/hands-on-nine-is-a-clean-and-attractive-email-client-aimed-at-exchange-users-and-very-few-others/5/5/2014 9:37:24 AM |

Yeah touchdown is ugly. Couldn't do it.
I need to give Nine a try. I don't really mind the stock Samsung mail app. My only issue with it is it doesn't sync the read status.
For example in Gmail if I read an email on my computer the Gmail app automatically gets the read status and the notification LED stops blinking and the badge goes away.
With the mail app the LED stays on and the badge doesn't go away until I open up the app and it syncs. All I get pushed is new emails. This may be a limitation to the server version of Exchange/Active Sync we're using (2010 I think).
Anyone have this issue? Or know what I mean? 5/5/2014 12:21:55 PM |
dtownral Suspended 26632 Posts user info edit post |
I always clear out the notification from the taskbar so I Haven't even notices (edit: after checking, it looks like it goes away on its own for me)
one issue i'm having is that i don't get a counter on the icon, is this normal?

Very disappointed that thus far, nobody has figured out an exploit to root Droid MAXX. I'm sure as hell not going to pay Verizon $30/month for wireless tethering now that I know that it's just one registry setting which has to change in order to enable it. Anybody have another app or workaround which they use, or do I have to go back to wired tethering for now? (Ugh.) 5/5/2014 2:55:49 PM |

Has anyone used CallApp? It's got some neat features, but some of the imported pictures are wrong and I kind of prefer the stock dialer's look to the CallApp dialer. But it's pretty neat to try out.

TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148446 Posts user info edit post |
You're not gonna find a more protective case than the Defender. I'd advise peeling off the screen protector that came with the phone and using the transparent screen that comes with the Defender. Both screen protectors at once will limit touch sensitivity a little bit. And the clip on the holster is gonna eventually break. That's the one knock in the build quality of the Defender.
My only issue with the case (which I don't own) is the buttons at the bottom are a little difficult to push sometimes because the case comes right up to the bottom of them. But you could probably run your phone over with a truck and not damage it.] 5/12/2014 12:41:41 AM |

It has some sound enhancement software, and comes with a really nice set of h/k earbuds. I think it adds $30 to the cost of the standard M8.

so...looks like they're adding 4G LTE and a microSD slot to an updated version of the 8GB moto G for only $20 more than the 3G model: http://www.engadget.com/2014/05/13/motorola-adds-lte-moto-g/
of course, i was under the impression that KK didn't allow third-party apps access to the microSD slot: http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/02/17/external-blues-google-has-brought-big-changes-to-sd-cards-in-kitkat-and-even-samsung-may-be-implementing-them/
the rest of the specs seem the same...i could wish for it to be dual-SIM like international versions of the moto E, but i don't think that's going to happen 5/14/2014 12:03:22 PM |
