Anybody with a Droid Maxx installed the 19.6.3.en.US system update that came out a few days ago? I haven't but I read about some reception issues, where people who normally would have 5 bars tend to have 2 or 3 bars now and drop down to 3G more often.

Gonna probably wait to update if that's the case. Not sure what else is included. All Verizon says is
"• Device Roaming Enhancements
• Bug fixes and stability improvements"

I installed it. I definitely concur that I am showing fewer bars than before, but I have not yet seen my 4G drop down to 3G a single time.

I ended up installing it too. I haven't had any missed calls yet due to the cell signal, or dropped to 3G other than inside a building where it normally drops to 3G, so it seems fine. Only thing I've really noticed so far is that some of the status bar icons are now white instead of blue.

Haven't noticed any problems with mine. But then again, I loaded up a special .mp3 and use it, and it's already loud as fuck.

Anyone running the Nexus 5 with stock android? I absolutely hate the dialer, contacts, and hangouts for SMS on this thing and I'd love some suggestions. I thought about going to cyanogenmod but have heard people have had issues with the camera app and a few other things.

^^^I think I might've noticed it when my battery was super low from streaming Pandora for like 15 hours...seems fine now

I've been using the Hello SMS app that dtownral mentioned a page or two ago and I like it...but I wish you could send videos...and also send a picture in the same message as text...any other tabbed based SMS apps that allow those features? not a huge deal, but those are the few things I noticed that Hello doesn't support that even the stock SMS app does

For as many years as I have had Android phones, I have never been interested in having games on them. That all changed this past week with OTTTD. I am completely in love with this game now.

^^^Cool app. I started a 2nd game and am about 5 or 6 levels in (3 stars) without using any skill points or any weapons upgrades. Thinking that might help me figure out the best way to level stuff up.

I can definitely say now that after several days of close observation, my call strength and network speeds have dropped significantly. I don't put too much credence in the visual indicators, but I have had some very spotty calls (not dropped, but close to it) and my data transfer speeds have been inconsistent at best. I'm right in the middle of RTP, so I don't feel like I'm in any kind of dead zone.

I am still really enjoying this game. I've played many missions repeatedly just to try to farm XP and unlock more talents. Thus far, my favorite team is Assault, Rocketeer, and Saboteur. My Rocketeer is just a flat out beast, which is completely unexpected since I haven't even yet got a decent second talent for him (he still has jetpack, which I never use). I have put points into Increased Damage, Increased Range, and Incendiary Gibs. I did buy the Acupuncher for him, which shoots micro missile clusters all over the place, and he can wreck face when anything gets within range. Just this morning I finally got enough enough points for Blackhat for Saboteur, and this doubles the potency for every landmine deployed. Holy shit. The ability to instantly put almost-certain death anywhere on the battlefield without having to march over and plant it just amazing. I've killed several end zone runners at the last second with this. I also finally got Berserk Wave for my Assault guy, and so when he uses it, the other two guys also get the same Berserk benefits. Completely amazing.

I don't yet have the Scientist, and so far I don't see any reason to use the Bombardier over the Rocketeer. There's gotta be something I haven't seen yet. I have completed 13 out of 20 missions, and have 3 stars in every one.

And I hate phone-based mobile games.

I've been using Assault, Rocketeer and Recon. I have Recon's range maxed out, he can hit people (albeit for minimal damage) from a long way away. I just place him in the middle of the map and he never gets hit.

Another thing I noticed about the system update is I've occasionally gotten errors downloading SMS messages. I've been able to resolve it by disabling mobile data and wifi and re-enabling, but it can be a pain sometimes

Yeah I'm currently focusing on active skills which let me deploy death from afar. With Bombardier, Recon and Rocketeer I'm at 5/6 active skills that let me reign down bombs etc. Soon I'll be 6/6 once I upgrade the Recon. I use Assault a lot too obviously. I always try to upgrade up to the active skills so I can use them if I want to...then work on the passive.

With the Assault's Berserk Wave, the Rocketeer's $170k weapon (Lavabird) and the Recon's Mark Enemy ability, I can take down the flying shark on the Mid Boss Airfield (level 8) in less than 1 minute

How do you deal with shielded enemies?

I'm kinda stuck on level 15 and the shielded ones always end up taking me out. I've even placed powerful towers along the map so that when they unveil for a microsecond they can get show them. Hmm maybe with recon's mark enemy? What else?

if you give him the long john pistol and max out the "pistol expert" skill, he can sit way back near the base and pick off stragglers that make it through your defenses on the spread-out levels. i like the mines for busting the purple reaper things with cloaking and for protecting the base. i had to figure out a way to make the saboteur more useful if i was going to keep him around for the landmines. i swap between the saboteur and the recon guy. pretty much just use the recon guy when i need the mark skill for levels where i use rockets. the saboteur with long john and maxed out pistol expert skill pretty much lets him sit back and snipe just like the recon guy does, but with a higher rate of fire.

you can also get the cloaked enemies with the rocketeer's super strike and bombardier's bomb active abilities.

i usually use two heavy-hitters like assault, rocketeer, or bombardier and then one faster guy with longer range to sit back and guard the base (either the saboteur or recon). on spread-out levels where i can't use a shield emitter tower, i'll use the engineer for the remote repair ability. i can't figure out what the scientist is for.

I constantly have problems receiving MMS from random people. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I've Chomp SMS and Textra but neither fix the problem. It must be something with the Nexus 5. My S4 never had any problems with this.

I realized I never followed up in this thread back when my phone started randomly not making or receiving calls consistently. It took about a 3 minute phone call for them to easily ship me out a free warranty replacement and the new one had 0 issues so I'm back to having a phone I love

The replacement process was super easy. I told them as soon as I called that I had already factory reset and tried multiple APN settings and they didn't even bother asking me any other questions. The phone arrived probably 3 days later. Great customer service.

i guess I could try hello. I've had no real complaints with hangouts though since I started using it last year other than merging SMS/hangouts for the same contact which they already have done now.

I liked it, because it's easy for me to continue conversations with people that use both. My wife and I both have N5s and if I'm at home and she is at work or something, I can be on my laptop talking to her on her phone via hangouts. Then run errands and it's the same thread of conversation on my phone etc. Jumping back and forth between a phone, tablet, and chatting via a browser is smooth that way for us.

While I'm thinking about it, I keep getting these "Gems Removed" notices where they take away gems and replace them with gold. Pretty lame to do that without checking with us, and especially without saying how many gems they took. This time I only got 3k coins. How many gems were taken? Who knows
