our class is currently 21 in the nation on rivals and 23 on 247. that's 4th best in the ACC (5th if you count Notre Dame).

obviously rankings will change before it's all final...but our last top 25 class was 2008 (on 247...have to go back to 2003 on Rivals to get a top 25 class)

Yeah I know Dunn starts next year, but other than him I think Person might be too good not to see the field as a true Freshman. Ideally we RS as much as possible, but glad we're finally at the spot of only playing the players that are too good not to instead of just having to play guys because of numbers.

there was an undercurrent if you wanted to find it that frasier was overhyped based on one highlight reel and the fact that he was going (at one point) to fsu. there was a lot of talk that he didnt actually love football and wasnt that good. i havent seen anything like that on person, just the typical homer dick sucking most recruits get which sometimes gets you a jaylen and sometimes gets you a LB that transfers after one year

Not trying to be difficult - but it’d seem like they’re offering him because they think he’ll flip. I can’t imagine revenge for us getting Payton Wilson is a factor other than just maybe a coincidence of circumstance. That seems like the way fans might wanna interpret it (you get one of ours, we’ll take one of yours), but I would question whether that’s the case here. Not that it really matters. And if the dude really wants to go to UNC then I can’t blame him for it - seems like a long snapper would be a relatively replaceable recruit.

Or maybe coaches are way more petty than I assume.

It's been done before, I remember we gave a scholarship to one of the "top long snapper in the country" 5 or 6 years ago. I remember watching the HiGHLIght videos of him at camps.

I mean I saw some ridiculous number that one publication that ranks special teamers had 42 long-snappers rated as 5* snappers. If that tells you anything about the ranking of the position.

I see nothing wrong with giving a LS a scholarship, they're fairly important. I remember some NFL team had a rash of injuries at LS this year or last year(Eagles maybe) and they had OL just practicing on the sideline for it and they were all terrible. I've seen a ton of punts or FG's screwed up because of a bad snap from a LS, so they're pretty important and you only notice them when they're awful.

It's not like we couldn't find another LS, but staff is high on Little and he seems to have a good rapport with Dunn so that's positive. Also helps that Little is friends and plays on a team with a 4* DT for the '19 class. I mean one of the upsides to the team landing Gwyn, other than landing a great OL prospect, is that he's teammates with the #1 RB in the '19 class too.

Yeah staff was willing to wait on Belle, they thought he was that good, so glad that worked out.

Seems like we're trending in the wrong direction with Gwyn(3* OG), but in the right direction with Palmer(4* CB).

This could be a gigantic DB class.

not all have signed, but on rivals it says 18 have. and that's out of, i believe, 22 commits. they anticipate all commits to sign. no surprises so far.

one DL commit, Derrick Eason, announced he will sign in February. will be interesting to see how that plays out. coaches are urging all commits to sign now, so if a commit doesn't sign will he be considered - for all intents and purposes - decommitted?

Of course the coaches want everybody to sign.

If I was a 3+ star recruit, I wouldn't sign until the last possible moment. It's really not in their best interest to sign a binding commitment early.

Saw where Matt Stevens & Bryce Banks are transferring. Stevens is a 6 foot 3 star R-Fr Lb from Charlotte. banks is a 6-2 3 star R-Fr safety from Missouri. Both had decent offer lists.

Stevens was a walk-on and his brother is leaving, so he has to be looking to transfer somewhere with better PT options. We tend to only play 2 LBs and we actually have a nice stable of talent now(esp if Drake Thomas commits as expected).

Banks released a statement that said it was "business related", so I think it's clear that he was buried on the depth chart and wanted to transfer somewhere with more options for PT.

Not really worried about losing either, I expected Banks to play some this year just based on depth at CB, but we are bringing in a fairly strong DB class(esp. if we add Palmer) so guess we'll just get to see some of those guys earlier than expected.

I'm going to just assume Eason flips. You don't tell everyone you're solid and then just take a visit for a free trip. If he took the visit during the season to see a big game(like McNeil did), then I'd understand it a little more. South Bend doesn't seem like a great place to visit in January. It was freezing cold/saw some snow when I went up for the State/ND game earlier in the year, can't even imagine now.
