Not really, they just need another live body that is taller than 6'6.

If he was going to go to college and not prep school he would've committed to Arizona, and he has as much work to do to get his body ready for College as Noreen does.

^He's been quoted as saying that he loves UNC and that one of the reasons he was going to prep school is improve his game so that maybe UNC would offer.

He's a little bit bigger/stronger than Noreen...plus Noreen is a finesse/outside guy. Jack might not be physically ready to play against high major college talent yet, but he's probably played inside against better competition than Noreen has.

Not sure where you're getting that, but on Scout they've been saying it's prep school or Zona for months (UNC was never even mentioned). And UNC waiting for him until 2011 almost defeats the point, they need big bodes NOW not next year.

He may well be stronger than Noreen but he certainly isn't taller than him, though that may not be what you meant.

that is exactly my point

[Edited on May 7, 2010 at 2:11 PM. Reason : we do not need players that associate themselves with people like that]

[Edited on May 7, 2010 at 2:13 PM. Reason : as much as I hate to say it, we could learn from Duke on this. Duke would never recruit this kid.]

the point is that this kid is going to be judged unfairly by any asshole who hears any portion of his story, and then that is going to reflect poorly on the university

it doesn't matter whether or not Mabry did anything wrong, actually pointed any guns at anyone, or even shot someone and got away with it

the vast majority of people don't give a shit to find out the details or know the guy -- when our fans are reacting this way, its not hard to extrapolate it out to think how people not affiliated with State will react

Who gives a fuck how some assholes are going to judge him (TWW included)?

I'll trust the people that actually know the kid and say he's a good kid over the fuckfaces that read one article online. If he gets in some shit once he gets here then appropriate action can be taken

Point is, if somebody's going to base their judgement on the entire university, or even on the basketball team based on their misguided judgement of one the players (if he's truly innocent, of course), why should we care?

Noreen is the other 2010 guy I mentioned that isn't Mabry. First impression makes you think he's a Horner-type, but you read this and it's like

Quote :
" Capable of playing any of the frontcourt positions, Noreen is the all-time leading scorer in the state of Minnesota after averaging 38.2 points per game and 16 rebounds per contest his senior year. He shattered the previous scoring record (3,428 points) by amassing an astounding 4,086 points. He also owns the state record in rebounding (1,899), and fell just 35 assists short of setting that mark."

probably playing against midgets in high school but those stats are what you want to see in that situation. Still, he's a longshot

I don't care if I KNOW the kid or not

The fact is he was AT THE SCENE OF A MURDER WHILE IT HAPPENED!

whether he is a good kid or not, that right there tells me his decision making, when it comes to choosing friends, is NOT SMART.

I just think with everything going in the right direction, bringing on a potential problem player is not worth it..... AT ALL.

i don't care if he's runnin' with Al Qaeda.....just as long as he can go off for 20+ against UNC, i don't give a fizzuck!

^^ serious question... If you randomly happened to see someone get shot right next to you while you were randomly walking back to your car in the middle of the night after a day out on the town, should your future employees never hire you. Give the kid a break.

(I don't know the story at all, I'm just commenting on the comment)

[Edited on May 7, 2010 at 3:32 PM. Reason : V that's fine, I told you I haven't payed any attention to the story (you follow me) (yeah?)]

He chose to be there

I was at two different parties in college where guns were pulled. I'm certainly glad that no one pulled the trigger, b/c it could have ruined my life, since I chose to attend those parties, even though i had nothing to do with the incident.

I understand the point, but at the same time, all we know is what we've read in a few articles, which leave a lot to speculation.

I'd rather get this PF guy though. But from what I've heard, i think I'd be happy w/ Mabry too.

From here:

http://tucsoncitizen.com/wildaboutazcats/2010/01/12/jack-of-all-trades-recruit-emerges-from-soccer-background-to-hoops-stardom/

Quote :
"He is so confident in his ability that he wants perhaps the most storied college basketball program in America to give him a look. He no longer dreams about playing for Trinidad and Tobago’s national soccer team, which qualified for its first World Cup appearance in 2006. He desires to play basketball for the North Carolina Tarheels.

Roy Williams, are you reading?

“North Carolina, to me, is an ideal program,” Jack said. “It’s a program that gets a lot of respect nationally. Where I play, at Rice, it is the same way. People across the nation know about Rice High School because of some of the players who have played here (such as Felipe Lopez and Edgar Sosa).”

When asked if he believes North Carolina will begin recruiting him, Jack said with a hint of adulation: “I hope so.”"

Jack is going to prep school... somewhere in the Northeast I want to say. I know that UConn was hard after him and he actually took an OV. Interesting that Roy would be in it for this type of player.

[Edited on May 7, 2010 at 3:56 PM. Reason : also, Harrow is taking his OV along with 'Zo this weekend...]

this video doesn't really exhibit Noreen's basketball prowess or anything, but it does look like he played with a bunch of little scrubs. Doesnt look like a powerhouse high school bball conference.

kim, i definitely know what you're saying and any other year for NC State, I would say we should go for it and give the kid a shot. I just think that right now with the massive swing in a positive direction for NCSU basketball, that we should pass on him and wish him the best.

Mabry was exonerated in a court of law

anyone who gives him shit for being a victim of circumstance is ignorant/misinformed

fuck the haters, bring him on...who cares what other people think? he shouldn't be denied because of DROPPED charges

The mabry decision could take awhile...

http://www.rockymounttelegram.com/sports/undecided-nc-state-leads-list-possible-destinations-mabry-19448

He's taking official visits to Rhode Island and Wyoming. While we are the leader, he's waiting on the finalization of the Mays transfer since he's still on the active roster.

^^^^ Re: the Trio. I was listening and Adam Gold was like: "well, it looks like we're not going to have the Trio afterall." He mentioned recruiting and violations having to do with them being on the OV. I likened it to something that someone had mentioned the past few days how UCONN would take recruits to the ESPN studios and that was deemed a violation - like special treatment for going on the OV. Once u sign the LOI i don't know why it matters, but if our staff was trying to be above-board that's awesome. I was just disappointed not to get to hear them all together for the first time.

this is actually a hard call. if i had to rank them, i'd say:

1) brown - fills the 2 with a consistent scorer that we've lacked for a long time
2) harrow - will be needed to play point right away, his film is amazing but whether his game will immediately translate into success is still up in the air
3) leslie - extremely athletic and will make a lot of highlight plays but the other two have a bigger chances to improve their respective positions

i'm just happy to have them all aboard. let's hope our all 5* class turns out better than wake's in 2008.

nobody will see it, because it's post 49, but I thought Atsur was quite fundamentally-sound. he made up for lack of quickness and go-to scoring ability by using his head and doing the little things
