I was playing 910 of clubs today, flopped a flush with a straight flush draw. There were 3 all-ins in front of me though.... had to lay it down. One guy had hit trips, the next had the K high flush, the last guy had the ace high flush. Huge hand, but as it turns out I would have been drawing for 1 out (the flop was QJ3 of clubs), so of course it was the right fold.

And on the subject of poker advice.

If you are going to raise, don't just double the blind. It's the gayest raise in the world. I don't care if you have AA or KK or whatever, you don't just double it, because **gasp** you don't want a bunch of callers. I have just taken this one guy's stack at a $50 3 times in the last half an hour, each time with him having a far superior pre-flop hand. In the last hand, he raised .50 on a .25/.50 table and I had 89 offsuit. I called, and the flop was 367 offsuit. He bets .50 again. I call. Turn is a Q. He bets .50, I call. River is a 10, so I have the nuts. He bets .50. I raise to $10, he goes all-in. I call, he flips over KK. He goes crazy, saying how can I possibly call a preflop raise with 89 off, and then chase with my crappy hand down to the river. All 3 hands went something like this, with me paying virtually nothing to get free cards, and then having him go all-in on the river with me having the nuts and him having top pair or an overpair.

Moral of the story here. The easiest way to profit online is to find a small table that either does not raise preflop, or with someone who likes to raise like a girl preflop. Because you will hit and take his stack. I know it's tempting to go to a table with a guy who has a huge stack and who is playing like an idiot. But unless you have a lot of patience and a good bankroll, don't do it, because odds are, that guy has shelled out some bad beats on his way to his big stack, which means if he is raising like a moron (in this case raising to like $15 preflop on a .50 table) then you're hand will have to be good before the flop, after the flop, and from then on to win. When you play with people who "under-raise" it becomes very cheap and easy to make money, because you get to see almost every river nearly for free, and at that point, know where you stand.

I saw some guy throw a bitch fit the other night when he limped in early position with aces, then checked the flop and no one else bet, then 89 made the nut straight on the turn and raised him all in for over $100. He was all "I can't believe how unlucky I am" and "this shit is rigged" and "I can't believe you played 89 off in middle position, you are awful" for like 10 straight minutes.. it was hilarious

Thank god that two came. Also, I wouldn't usually overplay my kings like this, it's just that Poker_jedi had proved himself to be a total maniac for a couple hours prior to this hand. The other guy, thvo123, had also proved himself to be really bad. As it turned out, he did bet out the best hand on the flop and I was kind of trying to get him to fold when I pushed all in. I knew for a fact that I had jedi beat(that's why I smooth called him preflop and checked the flop btw - he was pushing all in on every other hand he was involved with), and I thought there was a very good chance that thvo had something like 56 or 88. I also thought there was a reasonable chance he had a flush draw, which was fine with me. He just happened to have two pair and as I saw him call my ~$130 raise I knew I was probably in trouble. But the two came, and now I don't get to bitch about any bad beats on here for at least a week.

yeah, 500 raked hands to cash out.. and you get an additional $25 at that point

just follow the instructions from the link:
http://www.instantbankroll.com/ib.asp?rc=noidroid

After you fill out the standard player profile stuff I think you have to talk to them for a second on the phone. Then the $75 will appear in your account within 24 hours from what I understand.

Wow that Poker_Jedi was a complete idiot. I saw a similar player today.... it seems like there are quite a few of them online, who raise ridiculous amounts, call anything. The guy I saw called a $150 all-in with A7 on the turn, with the board 355J and hit an ace on the river to beat another guys KK. Stuff like that just dumbfounds me and makes me want to cry.

Saturday I played 63 suited to a .50 raise and the flop was 663. A guy raised, I reraised, he went all-in. He had AA, but hit his ace on the turn. Then he proceeded to tell me how dumb I was and that I got lucky by hitting (even though I lost the hand). He seemed to think he made a perfect play.... blah blah blah, which of course is totally insane, seeing as how he had 2 outs to catch. Some people just really don't get poker.

I dont have a hand history for this but I was playing a 7stud mtt today and this is what happened:

5th Street:

Me: (AK)222
Dumbass: (10J)AK4

Another A and K died on this street from people smart enough to fold and some 4s died earlier so there was no way he had trips.

He sees my exposed trips but chases his gutshot all the way to the river, hits it and knocks me out of the tourney.

Do you guys play a lot of the "mini" tournies online? I find that the blinds escalate way too fast toward the end of the game, and it just turns into a tota crapshoot as to who goes all-in and manages to survive. I can generally place, but I dunno.... is this also true for the larger tournaments?

Last night i took a quick beating. calling others pre-flop with first AK suited, which i lost to a guy who paired his nines.

then the real shit happened,
i get dealt qh-qs
im big blind, and have 3700 in chips. it gets to me, i raise 500 pre-flop. 3 people call, then the small blind person goes all in. i knew he was trying to buy the pot, he had done it earlier like 3 times, so i was like hell i gotchya bitch. i call him, the other 3 fold an djust me and him.
flip our cards, he has 2s-8c.

then the bitch catches a backdoor river flush with his 8c and 4 clubs on board. so i was out in less than 10 minutes, the shortest game ive ever played, losing with ak suited and then pocket queens to complete rags.

also, after your smooth call postflop he must think you have something, or else why not go allin on the turn

Results from AC....

Tournament was a bust. You got 1000 worth of chips with 25/25 blinds to start. You could rebuy at any time before the 3rd level (and many went ahead and did it at the start of the tournament). Basically, those who hit hands early got the chips, and the dumbfucks who made bad plays bought in again. I knew I needed to hit some hands early... but nothing came....

1) Limped in from early position with A-10 suited, made a dumb 100 bet with a K, 10, X on the board, folded to a big reraise.

2) Got 10s in middle position. Old guy in front of me raises to 100, and I reraise to 200 to isolate him. One guy on the button calls, the old guy goes all-in. I folded and was glad to see it was the right call, the old man had Qs.

After #1 and #2 occured, plus two rounds of blinds, I was sitting with only 450 in chips (which wasn't crap). When the blinds hit 50/100, I knew I needed to make a move quickly.

3) I picked up 3s in late position, a good hand to steal some blinds and/or double up. Unfortunately a small stack went all-in ahead of me and with a big raiser behind me, I had to fold, figuring I might be dealing with either 3-4 overcards or worse, an overpair. Turned out to be the wrong call, I was facing only 3 overcards and would have won it.

4) Two hands later I picked up 4s in middle position. The UTG +1 called the BB. I decided to take a chance and go all-in. I got the blinds to fold, but the douche who called the BB turned over JJ. I was sunk.

I ended up watching a movie to get over my frustration, eventually I went back and played some $2/$4 limit hold 'em. Great decision, lots of loose/bad players. Made $28 on my $60 buy-in, including tips to the dealer. I highly recommed limit hold 'em for anyone with a limited bankroll. My $60 would have been a short stack at any no limit game.

P.S. Comments and criticisms welcome.

I'll agree to an extent, but you probably don't want to be playing limit hold 'em on the weekends. At that time old guys with huge bankrolls sit down at the 1/2 and 2/4 tables and just call every fucking hand. Limit is a different beast too, a lot of times a hand like 89 suited will end up being a lot better than AA

^ I agree, I had to switch gears and play looser in effect. It wasn't that hard though, you just have to play some of your draws and watch out for other people hitting there's. I saw two full houses on the flop get busted twice (once by me), top set of kings on the flop got beat by a runner runner gutshot straight draw, I myself hit 4 runner runner flush draws, and so on and so forth.

In the long run the good players get paid off by the calling stations, it was really as simple as that. If you could avoid enough bad beats you'd get paid off for playing good hands well. Also see a lot of flops with speculative hands in later position. If you have no aggressive players left to act, go ahead and call the BB for $2 and see the flop even with your 10,9 unsuited.

shitty to lose that

one thing i dont understand about poker / sidepots - i wanted to call that 898 and get that jackass out. i checked after the flop, then that guy bet. COULD I HAVE FOLDED THERE and still had my hand in the first pot? i mean the full house obviously wins them all, but thats what i have trouble understanding about the pots. how do they keep them apart, and do you have to play to the end?

i guess the only way you can stop playing is to run out of money eh.... i fucked up hahaha

I guess..... I mean pre-flop the hand was a toss-up, and you had about 7 outs even on the river.

^it was just about the oddest way to win a pot, so thats why I posted it. I probably should have said that but I posted it while I was in the tournament.

looks to be a decidedly average medium limit pot, I don't see anyone that acted out of character.. nice take on the river though

fuck this game right now, just lost $80 playing PL on rediculous beats:

my AK when I'm allin for $15, by Q2o who hits his two

my floped straight getting beat on the river by a flush

then the kicker in the pokertaverns tonight at playmakers

J7 in the BB. Flop: J, 10, 7. 3k in the pot, I check. 1k bet by two players, I reraise 6k all-in. get called by AK. Now, I realize his AK is pretty decent here but still, he hits his A on the turn so now he has like 12 cards in the deck to win it. Hits his Q for the straight on the river. grrrrrrrrrrrr.

no clue

at the 10:30 game i went allin with AKs after I called a 500 bet on the flop when I hit the Ace. guy calls with Q4o post turn when he makes an inside straight draw. He hits one of his four outs to make the straight on the river.

^ I can relate far to much to that crap. I've been beaten twice by a 4-out draw TWICE on those tournaments....

Ah well I'm taking a break. CarZin was kind enough to invite me out to a poker game his friends were doing. I turned $40 into $300 that night, I owe ya few Ryan
