I'm getting tired of all "extra" content costing even more money now instead of just being free updates

Remember when Halo 2 came out with updates(maps) that you could buy, and if you didn't need it that day, it became free within a few months? I liked that system much better.

I know it's in this thread somewhere but I really don't want to search 21 pages. I just got a 360 like two weeks ago and I just realized that it had put circles of scratches on my GOW disc. I remember reading that some boxes were doing this but figured maybe it was just launch consoles. When I bought the game there was no protection policy offered. Is there anything I can do or am I just going to have to deal with it and hope it doesn't get more messed up?

^when you are done playing a game, dont just open the tray or cut off the xbox...instead, go back to the XBox Dashboard...that way the disc will properly spin down...if you just open the tray or cut off the xbox it drops the disc off the motor and the disc only stops spinning from the friction of the tray which causes the circular scratches

see i was thinking of getting COD3 last week for $40 at circuit city and rainbow six: vegas for $48 this week at circuit city too but just decided ill rent them both and play them over break (need to save some money)...

i really wanna play some college bball and have played both the demos (2k7 and MM07)...mm07 demo looks great and could have promise except for it plays like total shit so ill wait to see if they fixed any of that when it comes out in january before i choose one...

march madness plays exactly like NBA Live..which was horseshit...so ill avoid that one. Hopefully next year they will have better game play because both of those bball games have the best player models, in comparison to 2K sports.

in other news, Rainbow Six is the most fun game Ive played since Golden Eye.

i really liked the demos for both sp and mp on xbl...however i was turned off from buying this game because i was disappointed they toned down their excellent single player graphics in multiplayer (im not lying, you can tell the difference)...i immediately noticed it after playing the SP demo alot and then playing the MP demo...not a big deal by all means but sometimes im a graphics whore.

i just got an xbox a week ago. i should probably post this question in tech talk but i don't want to start a new topic that draws more attention to my stupidity.

i have time warner digital cable and high speed internet. i use a wireless router. i hooked the xbox to the back of the router. i have no problems connecting to xbox live, i've downloaded demos and all kinds of crap. my problem is when i want to play online multiplayer. i can get into a match two or three times out of 40-50 tries. and of the few times i actually get into the match, half the time i get booted in the middle of the game. at first i thought it was a game specific problem since i was playing halo 2. but i got rainbow six vegas yesterday and the same crap has been happening. my internet connection on my computer (wireless) has always been great. so i'm guessing it has something to do with the router. i am not tech savy at all when it comes to routers and firewalls and all that stuff, so if you can offer any help give as much information as possible.

- get xbox live (gold, so you can play online)
- gears of war (buy)
- perfect dark, fear, top spin...meh probably rents unless got a good used deal
- saints row is fun but i got bored after awhile
- play the sports games all the time so (college hoops, madden, nhl, etc)

just make sure to get gears of war
cod3 and rainbow six: vegas are cool but i dont know if you want 2 shooters to start off with
