Fascinating so far, and reminding me of a lot of things I had forgotten (and some I never learned) about Lincoln and the Civil War.

I've been reading Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy. I plowed through the first third of it in a week. I've since hit a wall with it and have only read a few chapters the past couple weeks.

Ghost Soldiers is next

Picked this up from some bargain rack thinking it looked interesting. I have never seen another author unintentionally (or so it seems) scream "I'm a douchebag!" this much in the first 10 pages. It has a 5-star Amazon rating though ... maybe it will get better.

Heading to the beach for a week and need some material.

So far I'm going to pick up:

The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis

Battle Royale by Koushun Takami

Now I'm looking for one more fiction suspense/mystery/action/thriller. I've read and liked all of Dan Brown and most of Michael Creighton.

Any suggestions?

I haven't read a book in over 7 years. I'm just not a reader. So this should be interesting

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I plan on seeing it after I read the book to compare.

^I'm about to re-read it, and then start in on the rest of the books. I've seen a few spoilers on here (thx elkaybie) and now I can't wait to read about them!

holy shit, there are 9? they're super fast reads though, so maybe that won't be as bad as it sounds.

I know I've gotten through ~100 pages since coming in to work this morning.

yep...9, and Charlaine Harris has been contracted to write 3 more. the 10th comes out in May 2010. And they are releasing a compilation of short stories (which are stories about other characters in the novel w/ or w/o Sookie being in it) in October of this year.

i'm stuck dead in the middle or hyperion and shadow rising. but good, just no motivation to choose one or the other and just knock it out

i don't know how much you remember about it.

it's starts off with the priests tale, which was really dark and pretty amazing. it really sucked me in. the next was the soldiers tale, which was just about the most boring thing i have ever read. as a consequence i put the book down about a month ago. i just picked it back up, and the poets tale seems to be headed down the right track so we will see.
