With all the uncertainty surrounding the COT in a restrictor plate race, I wouldn't bet on any of the dark horses. Jr. is about has far down the line as I'd go because of his previous superspeedway success. But you have to go with Jeff, Jimmie, and Tony... Kenseth and Harvick would be my other dark horses. 10/3/2007 12:24:30 PM |

How fast can you go under yellow in order to pass a "slow" car????
Biffle did cross the line, so he wins. Had he stalled before crossing the line, I could see where the other guys might have reason to make a fuss." |

yeah any of them could definitely win
anybody else you think might have a chance, if not to win, to finish well? i've gotta pick my B list drivers and C list driver for fantasy
I'm considering Jeff Green or Dale Jarrett for my C lister...McMurray, Vickers, Bobby Labonte getting consideration for my B listers10/3/2007 1:08:53 PM |

Although that is a C list, I think that Dale Jarrett is a pretty big stretch. He's done pretty bad all year... but its your list!

^^^well him and Jeff Green were about the best of the C list options based on the past couple years' performances at Talladega specifically
also the C listers just kind of suck...Ken Schrader, Boris Said
JJ Yeley and Reed Sorenson have been about the best C listers this year
^JPM? is that Jamie McMurray?

Boris Said is a wash, JJ or Reed might do ok.... but this race is not the place for a C-lister to get a breakout win. The big dogs will be out to play, and to win.
I guess there should be an obligatory mention of the Busch brothers as well.
One other thing to consider is #17's pit crew advantage when it comes to making adjustments and shit on the stops... the pit crews will have to be flawless for any driver to have a chance and they have the best. 10/3/2007 5:27:18 PM |

i've currently got Jr. and Kenseth on my A-List...I'll wait for qualifying and pick one of them
I have 2 starts each remaining with Johnson and Gordon and I figure I can get a good A-List finish from Jr. or Kenseth
i never expect much from a C-lister but everybody has to play 1 of them
also I'm completely used up on Kurt and I have only 1 more Kyle start (they're both B-listers...A-listers just means you made the chase last year, in case you didnt know) 10/3/2007 5:29:29 PM |

it was funny today when Villeneuve caused a big wreck at dega in the truck race and the announcers tried to say he is a champion and his car must have "broke" cause it couldnt have been his fault.

I was driving home on 220 (driving entirely too fast) and I'm passing people left and right listening to the race, so wrapped up in it... then Jeff Gordon was pushed my Tony Stewart to the lead in front of Jimmie Johnson, and I'm all screaming and cheering and going nuts, clapping and stuff.
I bet poeple thought I was crazy!
That puts Jeff Gordon first in the Chase, followed by Jimmie Johnson by 9 points... (Then Clint Bowyer by 63, and Tony Stewart by 154.) It's finally spreading out a little. The past couple races, the Chase has only been by a point or two. 10/7/2007 6:29:38 PM |

Is anyone here going to the race next weekend? I want to go so bad, and I could go because we have a guy with tickets, but we have to work... It would suck working all day Saturday, driving to Concord, and driving all the way back to Raleigh to work again on Sunday at 7:30.
Then again... this is the last race before May next year, and the chase is close with my main two drivers in the top two spots... and I would freakin' love to be there.

If I was a Jr. fan, that would be bandwagoning. Where did that question come from anyway? I haven't mentioned Jr. in my recent posts.
I have been a Hendrick fan for a LOOOONG time, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson have been my drivers ever since I have been a race fan... which has also been a LOOOOONG time. (See page 1 through 21 for proof! And last year's thread too, if you can find it.)

I still maintain that Jr. and Truex were both solid picks... I mean I really didn't think DEI/RCR's engines would blow up AGAIN... And both Jr. and Truex clearly were doing well as far as driving goes.

Yeah, you can. Most of the speedway ran lots are considered day spots but I have camped there after the race a few times and will probably do it again this year. If you want to stay up and party/camp after the race I would recommend paying a little more and getting a spot at one of the actual campground sites. They are a lot of fun and more people will be up after the race, not just getting in their cars and driving away.10/8/2007 1:41:32 PM |

I think they need to change the races that are in the chase. There should be a road course in there. Pocono would also be a welcome change. They could replace any one of those 1.5 mile ovals that make up the majority of the chase races. 10/10/2007 4:31:06 PM |
stowaway All American 11770 Posts user info edit post |
hell no pocono shouldn't be in the chase. That track and it's races have sucked since they implemented the gear rule. Let the teams and drivers shift and the racing will be better. Give them softer tires, and let them shift, and the racing will improve. 10/10/2007 4:43:01 PM |
Jeepin4x4 #Pack9 35774 Posts user info edit post |
yeah pocono is a bad addition.
they need bristol, a road course, get rid of a couple of the mile-and-a-halfers and it will be a lot better.
nascar is growing in popularity, but the racing itself is worse than ever. 10/10/2007 6:19:55 PM |
SuperDude All American 6922 Posts user info edit post |
I was just using Pocono as an example since it's a 3 turn oval and it's definitely different compared to the other tracks. Since Pocono is ran twice, I figured one could be thrown in the chase. I definitely don't like the race, but I'm sure Nascar can find a way to make it enjoyable. I just want something that's different from the 1.5 mile tracks. Bristol or Richmond definitely come to mind too. Too bad they're both settled in right before the chase. 10/10/2007 7:17:43 PM |

I found a 2005 article on it. Doesn't exactly explain why but it's a decent read.
Jimmie said he likes to shift, Tony said it makes him think too much.
