Let's see who we aren't giving a hard time....Montreal, New Jersey (for once) and Edmonton. Oddly enough those are all of the other teams we (Carolina) beat last year in order to win the Cup. Now I am sure there are rather avid fans on this message board for all of the teams I listed but oddly enough they remain unscathed. I wonder why that is? Oh that's right. Because they aren't jackasses about their team then get get hockey bitch slapped repeatedly only to hide behind "let's talk hockey, guys" as their last desperate means to stay in the conversation of grown-up folks.

^ Exactly. The Sens have made the playoffs every year since '97, and been in the ECF twice since '03, only to be bogged down by goaltending woes or absent-minded defense. Alfredsson has been questioned in the playoffs every year since he was named captain. This year, the defense is rock solid, the goaltending is good, and Alfie is on fire. They have no reason to be satisfied with the PoW.

The funny thing is that the scuttlebutt on the goalie boards is all about how narrow Giguere's butterfly is, and they keep shooting it five hole, which is the only thing he focuses on.

this would still be the series of his life... having that trophy doesnt mean he already played better than he is now... so your "might" does hold up

its just a known fact as a fan that i watch other goalies play the series of their lives against us,,, every series i have to hear commentators say "oh ive never seen him so on top of his game"

I can't find any video right now, but Giguere was the entire show for Anaheim in '03. He's making big stops right now, and timely stops, but I'd say in this series the number of outright incredible saves he's made is under a half dozen. Against Gaborik in '03, he made one of the greatest saves I've ever seen...better than Miller's last night and even better than Caron's glove save (which I still think went over the line, but that's beside the point).

Just for fun, also look up Frank Pietrangelo on Stastny and Kirk McLean on a breakaway in triple OT against Calgary in Game 7 of the Campbell Finals in '94.

Found some mediocre video: Giguere's skate save on Modano and paddle save on Gaborik are around 1:30

The McLean save I'm talking about was in Game 7 of the first round in '94, and it wasn't even the Campbell quarterfinal, because dumbass Bettman changed the names that year. I don't know why I said Campbell final.
