I love whiskey, but I wish I liked bourbon more. I still just don't really like it or understand it. For instance, people tell me that they love bourbon because it is so sweet. I have never tasted a bourbon that I have considered sweet - it just tastes like straight wood to me. I find regular single malt American whiskeys (Stranahans, Barrell, etc.), Japanese whiskeys, Speysides, and Highlands all significantly sweeter.

Woodford Reserve is great if you have a yellow jackets nest you want to pour it on and light on fire. Not a fan.

Noah's Mill was pretty good. Think I get a different bottle every time I go to the store.

I am really shocked how much I like Maker's Mark. Somehow that has escaped me in my 15 years of drinking.

got some a bottle of Old Forester Hoppy Select Single Barrel Barrel Proof. it ~130 proof, but def taste smother than that. super tasty.

Also amazed at their section, it;d take me forever to decide.

if you see Quality House (by Heaven Hill) by it. 8 bucks and taste great. Heaven Hill make damn good bourbon.

FYI, Evan Williams Single Barrel is now a "Kentucky Only" release. This is a very good and very budget friendly SiB offering. I picked up a couple dusty bottles at one of my rural stops this weekend just to have on hand. Most places are already out of stock.
