ABC said it, not the producers.

ABC has lied to us before.

Worst Lost Episode Ever

They built this up for weeks and it was a steaming pile of shit. Why did Michael go back on the boat? Unless you consider that blank Michael stare with his mouth open an answer...Michael doesn't even know. I like how we have this top secret mission to find this super dangerous man Ben, but we don't even screen our calls from the "mainland".

I guess Miles got the grenade out of his mouth after it was in there for about 4 days. He seemed to be just chipper.

It looks like the cast was getting a little too full, so we have some Ewoks in the jungle kill the French woman and Ben's daughter's boyfriend. How original.

Between watching Belmont alley oop the game away against Duke and this episode of Lost, I'm not sure I've watched a more disappointing hour of television.

You obviously haven't been watching LOST very long if you think this was the worst episode ever.

i expect something bad will happen from Sayid turning Michael in and Ben will later use this to turn him into his personal assassin. Also, at the beginning of season 3's finale, was Jack trying to jump off the bridge and the island wouldn't let him?

FUCK YOU ABC.

One month break, then back on at 10pm?!?!? Why the fuck would they bump it to 10, and why the fuck are they taking a break after promising uninterrupted episodes. Seems like they had enough of a bumper to be uninterrupted due to the writers strike.

^^interesting...forgot that Sayid is Ben's bitch in the future.

^^ I think you meant "buffer", and I don't recall ABC ever promising and uninterrupted season. I think you'll survive a 1 month break.

Oh, and is the 10 pm slot past your bedtime?

^^^ Wow, didn't think of that. Those are some very reasonable theories there.

eh, bumper buffer whatever

No its not past my bedtime but if you recall Lost's ratings didn't do as well in the 10pm time slot last season. (though with an injury I sustained last wk I've been trying to go to bed earlier to help my body heal).

And they did promise uninterrupted episodes.

They promised uninterrupted before the writers strike, and have since explained how the rest of the seasons episodes will work due to the strike.

So I know Ben is a pretty powerful dude and all. But (assuming that Whidmore put the fake plane down there) how the hell did he get ahold of the records of all the measures Whidmore took to fake the crash site? Whidmore is obviously a very powerful guy, so you would think he would cover up his paper trail a lot better than that. This leads me to think that Ben is the one who orchestrated the fake crash site, but it just seems like Whidmore would be more of the type of guy to do that. Also I'd really like to know how Whidmore found out about the island and how he knows who Ben is.

widmore knew about the island b/c he knew about the dharma initiative, which was a group designed to experiment the unique properties of the island

widmore created a race around the world in order to try and locate the whereabouts fo the island
desmond ended up entering the race, and crashlanding on the island (maybe coincidence)

^true, forgot about that...

so maybe desmond was "meant" to find the island
widmore used desmond's love for penny to use him as a pawn

Oh yeah and as a small sidenote (not really too significant) but when Michael saw the hallucination of Nurse Libby, she was folding hospital blankets. She was holding blankets when Michael shot her.

yeah well no shit, that is pretty much explicitly stated in sayid's flash forward episode, ben says remember what they did last time you thought with your heart instead of your gun, and then sayid says you used that to recruit me into killing for you

I'm trying to think when Tom had the time to leave the island for New York, when he seemed to be in most Season 3 episodes, especially the early ones when Jack, Kate, & Sawyer were being held prisoner. Considering Season 3 took place over the course of about a month, maybe an average of 1-1.5 days/episode, that's cutting it kind of close.

^ Season 3 starts on Day 69, and we're on Day 90 now, so just barely 3 weeks.

^^ Not really, airplanes are pretty fast these days.

^ The freighter was there long before day 90, though. And it would probably take at least a week for Michael to get from New York to Fiji to the island. Last night's episode presumably took place during the Season 3 timeframe.

that'd be like saying "thats a great theory but he was shot with a harpoon gun" or "thats a great theory but we say his brain melted by the fence at the outside of the compound"

as we know so far just because we see someone die, doesn't mean they're dead.

I'm pretty sure he is dead. There can only be one Mikhail, and he will never die (regardless of how many grenades explode in his face).

or however many harpoons stab him. Its pretty hard to play dead when you get stabbed... the writers should have thought that out better

Actually, maybe they dig up Tom, and Jack punches him in the chest repeatedly, and it will bring him back to life.

umm, no, nobody else would have said anything. It went almost 12 hours without a reply. It was one sentence, who the fuck cares if it's in a separate post....

but back to the topic at hand.....
There is definitely some more info needed about the timeline of Michal leaving the island, getting to NYC, sending Walt to his grandma's, becoming depressed, trying to kill himself, going into and leaving the hospital, getting contacted by Tom, getting to Fiji, then taking the freighter to the Island. All this was supposed to happen in a few weeks, which is clearly not reasonable. At the least, they need to explain how Michael and Walt got from an island in the south-Pacific to NYC starting out in a small prop-boat. Even if somehow he got back to NYC in an unreasonable amount of time, like 3-4 days, then everything else that happens is still very tight for the timeline. I think you would/should budget 1-2 weeks for the freighter to get from Fiji to the Island and several more days of having it parked off of the island, but that much time can't reasonably be accounted for.

Quote :
"#
# The writers creatively sidestepped the whole "warp zone" subject matter by starting with Michael back in New York, but it clearly happened based on the timeline of this episode. That's the only way to allow Michael to return back to the "real world" two months after he disappeared (per his mom) since he left the Island roughly two months after the crash. Even still, the timeline is really tight - Michael was gone for two months... which means it was November 22 when he returned to NYC - then got on the boat and spent about a month there leading up to present Island time, which is about December 28. But it would still work enough that we just have to deal with Funky Space, not Funky Time."

wow, here is an impressive and elaborate theory explaining nearly everything on Lost. Will be interesting to see if some or all of this is true. It goes on for several pages (which I need to re-read), but the crux of it is that the Island is in a sort of time-loop between 1996 and 2004

I'm pretty sure that the Black Rock is older than that. The Black Rock looks like some kind of Spanish Galleon from like the 1600s-1800s, and it definitely looks wind powered. By the 1900s most ships were steam powered, or at least didn't rely on sails. It probably wouldn't have much of an effect on that timeline though.

Yeah I think so (I recall there were skeletons shackled to the sides of the ship) but still, most countries had outlawed slavery by 1900.

If you go back to the auction scene in "The Constant", I believe they said when the ship was lost at sea. I was thinking they said sometime in the 1860's.
