Someone tried a YSI thread months ago, and no one did shit with it, so I just started putting the leaks I found in here.

haha. I wish the rest of the album was at catchy/good as "made concrete." I enjoy the album but that song really stands out to me. I find this a lot with bands lately though.

Sigur Rós - Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust out on JUne 23rd, 2008

first single (mp3 and video) is on their website
http://www.sigurros.com/

The first video has enough nudity to fill a stadium.

i like it. i've stopped listening to weezer albums expecting them to live up to the blue album and started listening to them just like any other new album. it certainly doesn't top the blue album, but very few albums do. it's pretty good. i definitely think it's better than make believe.

the only song that isn't terrible on the new weezer is "pork and beans," and even that isn't great

here's another link to the red album

Weezer -- Red Album
hxxp://rapidshare.com/files/117885012/Weezer___Red_Album__2008_.zip

Should we try the YSI thread again? I mean, I don't want to clog up Cif82's Music of 2008 thread with links and requests, rather than 2008 discussion.... although, I think we've limited it mostly to requests for material released this year.

I know I've handled most "non-2008" requests via PM, when they've popped up.

The best thing about this thread is getting something new as soon as it comes out and I don't have to worry about losing a link on some other board that gets torn to shreds. It just seems that the YSI thread never had a high demand for anything in particular that can just be asked through a pm. I try and fill any request I get through pm because I assume that's just the go-to-method for most people.

although i'd rather do a request/aim transfer type setup

i could put up a monster list, and have a decent working library too

(only like 40 gigs after the last crash though )

i'd like to see rapidshare links where i could pick and choose at my leisure, depending on the conversation around said links

couple that with a "'if you like this, try this too' and bam- another download link" deal would be cool

it'd take dicussion and some history lessons, but we're good for it

^^ if i ever live in a gigantic house, i want one wall of the biggest room to be a map of popular music, everything linked like a web diagram by influences and whatnot...but instead of just being a picture, the CDs would slot in at each band's circle, so you could literally grab stuff out of the wall based on influence and sound

although by then it can probably be a huge touchscreen and immediately play from my in-house digital music system, but i like the tactile bit

This may have already been mentioned, but did anyone notice the lyrical gaffe in "heart songs" off the new Weezer record ?

Rivers references Debbie Gibson as the singer of "I think I'm alone now", when it was actually the 80's singer Tiffany.

oh tommy james

you performed so many songs that were appropriate for women in the '80s to sing

tiffany mangled one you didn't write

joan jett nailed one that you did

Yeah, I knew Tommy James did the original, but in the song he's attempting to reference the 80's artist who covered it.

I found his explanation in Spin Magazine --- he says that it was his goof, but then they decided to keep it to express his opinion that many of the 80's pop artists were sound-alike's.... he went on to say that Ernie was a douche.

partially because of the cowboy outfit and partially because of the lack of mikey welsh

That weezer album has about a combined two minutes of acceptable music.

and what's up with the fucking lyrics? that song where he talks about hearing the nirvana album? Jesus Christ that's horrible.

My favorite thing about the new weezer is reading all the interviews leading up the the new albums and how they're EXACTLY the same. It's just the band dealing with whatever mood rivers is in currently and how the new record is a return to form and how rivers has a notebook dissecting every nirvana and oasis song.

As a person who WORSHIPPED weezer back in the day, their shtick is so lame when they're making such bad music

Wow I think this is the first time that I'm actually going to be in the minority who likes the album (a lot of it, at least) instead of making fun of those who do. I've been listening to it for a few weeks now, and I still just haven't really gotten the least bit tired of it, although I skip "Heart Songs" and "Cold Dark World" every time and have no interest in ever hearing them again.

I think its fucking terrible. MUCH worse than make believe. I never want to listen to any of the songs again.

If anyone is gonna buy it though, schoolkids has the bonus seven inches that come with it

don't get me wrong, it's better than Make Believe and probably even better than maladroit, but it's still totally gay. There's a fine line between quirky and cheesy, and this is definitely the latter. The last twenty seconds of that third song (I think that's right) is the only REALLY good part of the album. It has its moments here and there, but there aren't any songs as a whole that I think are all that good. I really can't get beyond the lyrics.

I don't remember much of Make Believe, but I think Peace and Haunt You Every Day are better songs than any on here. The lyrics really are too bad to ignore. Not that the Blue album lyrics are great, but they worked
