That fake field goal had me reeling for a minute. At that point, I thought the game was going to be a shootout.

It was 14-14 before the first quarter was even close to over. From there, the Seminoles had a lead throughout a lot of the second half when the Tigers were driving, down 31-21 with a few minutes left in the game. An interception led to an 80-yard return which sealed the game for FSU. Another couple late turnovers from LSU resulted in a 51-21 win for the 'Noles, but the game was much closer than that.

NC State heads north to Chestnut Hill and comes away with a 52-21 victory.

The Wolfpack defense pounced all over QB Dominique Davis, forcing an 2 INTs and a fumble in the first quarter to set up 2 Russell Wilson to George Bryan TD connections and a Leroy Burgess fumble return TD. Wilson didn't need to do much more on a short day, finishing 12-17 for 3 TDs and no turnovers. Toney Baker again carries the load to milk the lead with 23 carries for 131 yards and 2 TDs, plus a TD reception. BC is left searching for answers and a healthy running back as they drop to 2-5 (1-4). NC State stays in the mix, advancing to 6-1 (2-1) going into the bye week. The bye week can be a curse with this much momentum, but Tom O'Brien and his staff will try to prepare the Pack for their October 31 visit to Talahassee to face the 5th ranked Noles, who hope to stay undefeated with tough games against LSU and at UNC coming up.

So Willy Korn couldn't find a rhythm early, and Wake did a good job stuffing Spiller and Harper as the Deacs raced out to a 7-0 lead. They traded TD's all thru the 3rd quarter until it was 28 a piece with a few minutes to go. Clemson got the ball at midfield and Spiller led a slow methodical drive down to the 8 yard line with a few seconds left, where they were able to kick a game winning FG with no time left.

Spiller was the player of the game with 130 yards and 2 TD's

Ford caught 5 balls for 90 and a score

Bowers had three sacks, FINALLY a good game, he'd had one sack all year before last night

Korn was average with 150, a score and a pick



There is a glitch in the game statwise that bothers me...if you run an option and the pitch is slightly forward, it is ruled and incomplete pass and no stats accrue, no matter the result of the play...The result stands, TD or big gain or whatever, but statistically, its as if the play never occured...I've had 3-4 long TDs not record statically because of this.

Strange...

I've used the option twice. One was against UT (iceman) inside the red zone and got a nice 15 yard gain down to the 2 and the other was against Vandy (CPU) and I pitched it right in to the defenders arms and he took it to the house

Though, I had a botched handoff (I tried to change directions of the run at UT when the crown was loud) and my HB went the wrong way but my FB was behind the QB so I pitched it and got stuffed.

South Carolina pulls off the upset in a rainy Tuscaloosa. Spurrier was extremely pleased with his teams resilience after two stadium malfunctions. "We played great out there today despite the conditions and flag happy referees. We had nearly 350 yards of offense, and Garcia had an outstanding game for us today. This is a huge win for the program and I'm looking forward to talking to my recruits this week."

Stephen Garcia had a huge game going 18 for 22 for 271 yards. The tailback Baker played well also, recieving player of the game honors for rushes of 81 yards on 21 carries, with one TD. The Spurrier led defense played a bend but don't break style trying to contain Julio Jones. They picked off backup QB Jackson twice, after the starter McElroy went out of the game late in the second half.

Next week South Carolina meets #20 Vanderbilt in divisional play at home. Alabama stays home next week to meet up against the Volunteers.
